Weird CMMG Zeroed Drop In Trigger Reset Issue

Hey, I need help figuring out what's up with this new CMMG zeroed drop in trigger's reset.

There is an additional reset at the top of the hammer travel if I release the trigger prior to the hammer striking.

I've emailed CMMG and waiting to hear back, but thought I'd also share this here and see if anyone has ever seen anything like this before?

It’s not some weird multistage thing?

You should be able to see the hammer surface that the sear is catching on at “half ”.

I can’t exactly tell/see where the sear is catching on.

Wilson TTU triggers do this too, I believe it's an extra safety mechanism designed like a 1911. Look at the sear notches with the trigger outside the lower and you should be able to see that it's intentionally designed.

Interesting, that makes sense. I wish CMMG would list that drop safety feature on their product page.

That's normal operation of a half notch.
Many guns have them going back 100's of years.
They are an active safety feature that is automatically disabled while actively pulling the trigger.

In actual use, the hammer flies forward and strikes the firing pin faster than you could let off the trigger so your finger is holding the sear or trigger clear of the half notch and the gun functions normally.
The half notch is a safety to catch the hammer in case the primary sear surface ever failed.

Quit over-thinking it.
Go shoot the gun.
