My time is just far too valuable to wait around like that running a full time investigation firm. Time is money. If you have the time to deal with that then that's nice, I'd rather not lose out to a year of inflation and opportunity cost and do something with my money

But you're dropping a link into a classified; not a lot of time spent, unless you hold out for the price you want has a cost (you mentioned lost opportunity). Your price might be a "I just want this gone" price, to which you would price it low enough to sell quickly and move on. Makes sense.

I think we are conflating things. At opposite ends of this there is the crowd that is asking $2K for their $900 Glock with a 'no lowballers' label in the advertisement, and on the other end is the crowd that really is in no rush to move something but will part with it for a value based price. Both attract attention. Whoever, has priced in the time delay into their model will have an easier time holding out.

In either case, this shouldn't interrupt your day job.

I go through phases. I used to post on calguns a lot then I didn't post for like eight years. You seem to be trying to justify the loss of time and opportunity cost to me, you only have to justify it to yourself.

Me posting a pistol and maybe updating the listing once a quarter is zero op cost. I’m here anyways. It sitting in my safe for a couple years has zero effect on me.

Everything I sell because I don’t want, need, or use it. Not because I need money. So the easiest sell is the one I take, call it lazy but i’m not driving far or doing weird timing. It sells at the price I want on the terms I want or it sits in the back of the safe and is what it is.

Will I drop the price eventually. Maybe, but at that point i’ll go trade it to a shop eat the “loss” but save my time energy and get a couple bucks off what ever it was I went there to get.
