I saw that one a few days ago and couldn't make any more sense of it then than I do now. I'd assume it's simply for the gram.

Okay. I have to be the geek here, since I'm taking the USPSA RO class this coming weekend.

The competitor knocked over a barrier (the barrels) while navigating the course of fire. Unless such actions are permitted in the Written Stage Briefing (WSB), I'm thinking it is a procedural penalty (minus double the maximum points that can be scored, resulting in a reduction of 10 points from their score).

I know, I know... The dude is almost certainly DFL for the stage (Dead F***ing Last) and the penalty doesn't really matter. But for future reference, I'd like to know. I looked through the USPSA competition rules and didn't see any clear guidance.

I couldn't tell if the competitor had trigger finger clear while transitioning between targets, and clearly there are two axes of target arrays, making the 180 degree rule a little more complicated. The competitor's belt line was a shade low to be in compliance with regulation but again... I doubt it conferred a significant competitive advantage in this case.

I've seen competitors who are just slower. That in itself is fine, as long as they stay safe it's all about learning; we all start somewhere.

I get concerned when a competitor shows a clear lack of understanding of rules and procedures, that in particular is when things can get unsafe.

Entirely possible it's a goof.

I'm not certain of that. There appears to be an RO supervising the stage, and the sounds of nearby gunfire can be heard. Perhaps that's just the conventional range nearby.
