Gear Storage Gear Recommendations: 4-6 Pistol Bag & 3-4 Long Gun Case + More?

Hello All,

I likely have unrealistic dreams of what an ideal range loadout would be and was curious on what others may use/recommend. I tend to be a niche consumer with specific requirements and have grown accustomed to DIY/modifications.

General concept:

• 4-6 pistol bag. Soft case with few compartments for pistol mag/accessories/etc storage and maybe PPE. Main compartment has foam separator for pistols - would like to latch to bag internals.
• 3-4 long gun rolling case. Rolling hard case due to cumbersome size and weight. Hard case should have some space for long gun mag/accessories/etc but depends on the size of the case

I was thinking to utilize a 4-6 pistol bag and 3-4 long gun rolling hard case. Add a rolling storage system if the bag and case wouldn't be enough storage for tools and accessories. I don't have a specific bag selected but i'd like to integrate a foam pistol rack into the bag (something like = https://www.goutdoorsproducts.com/product/5-pistol-soft-cradle-holder-vertical-format-foam/).

I believe the 4-6 pistol bag and 3-4 long gun rolling case would be sufficient storage. However, if the need for extra storage arrises, I think a rolling storage solution could cover bases and lean toward future proofing. I'm looking forward to what the community would recommend.

As a small thank you and a recommendation from myself: The Nicpro Light Weight Art Portfolio Bag, 20x26 Black Art Canvas Portfolio Case is an almost perfect case for your paper and reactive targets. A small modification to expand the large main compartment allows range targets to lay flat. Otherwise a little waviness isn't so bad. Highly recommend for $20.

for pistols I use the Savior individual pistol sleeves in a "tactical" backpack. Long guns I have a short and long Savior bags that have backpack straps that will fit two long guns each. I keep it simple you couldn't pay me to lug around a big ass case.

And where are you taking all of that plus ammo to shoot? I mean good workout, but my man are you supplying guns for everyone?

I use my Dewalt stacking tool boxes, ammo in the bottom, pistols above, first aid and tools up top. They have wheels, lockable, and make a great seat.

Rifles are in a soft case that I can sling. for long guns, I have two hard cases total and they are for flying. otherwise they sit on the top shelf in the garage next to my coolers out of the way.

I'm born and raised in Marin and Sonoma County. Coming from the Marin area (SF North Bay), most people are of a certain demographic (let's be nice) and have never seen/touched a firearm in real life. I carry a small crusade in hopes to change that; I offer a free 1-day range day to friends who have never shot. Goal is to potentially change heart and minds of their delusions/fears. Yes, to provide a well rounded and interesting experience, I generally bring at least 4 pistols and a rifle for this conversion therapy.

Thank you for the input! Dewalt and Milwuakee look to have good systems. I likely cannot justify or utilize a hard case for 4 long guns but it is always interesting to me on what storage options others use. I'll likely use a backpack or duffle that can carry 2 long guns and supplement with individual soft cases for the rest.

Skip the Ryobi stacking system broke first range trip. I’m guessing due to weight. Dewalt is a couple years in and the range I shot at was rough dirt roads/paths you had to walk yourself in on. Zero issues with it so far. Pack out buy milwaukee is nice to. FIL uses that. Ridged is an unknown for me. No me I know has their version. I do like the dewalt drawers too. And the new stuff they released, you could have a rolling gunsmith bench if you wanted.

oof, 500 bucks after tax/Shipping because it’s for guns. The hard tool chest systems are sub 300 and easy to expand / customize.

Tools get stolen just as fast as guns but at least the neighbors don’t think you’re Burt Gummer loading the vehicle.

Yes, it’s not exactly the most economical option. What you’re paying for is a solution that has been tested and proven to work effectively right out of the box. A toolbox setup may work with some modifications, but the cost and time involved in those modifications can significantly reduce the savings compared to a dedicated system. If it were me, I’d just skip one or two range trips, and the savings would more than cover the price difference.

Until an ammo can punches right through the fabric side and you’re back to square one. Heavy items with sharp corners and fabric don’t mix.

I don’t have a backpack but savior pistol bag which holds 2. Savior soft rifle case like above but also throw 2 pistols in their small pouches…
