Staccato HD P 4.5

Rumors are true. Staccato officially added the Staccato HD P4 4-inch barrel to the California handgun roster.
I'm confused. What rumors? As was mentioned, the HD P4 was the first and original of the HD series to be approved and added to the roster (which was more than a year ago).

Were you confusing it for something else, like the HD P4X, or what?

4.5 will be the next CA model.... Have not heard of the P4X yet but I image it will be. Old video of Tulsi shooting a 5inch P4 with a X style comp and the Staccatos guys said it is the only one made and in a video that are still trying to perfect it first.

So for CA guys do you want a:

3.6
P4
C4X

or wait for a:
P4.5 (maybe a month or two)
P4X (Maybe by the end of the year)
P5X (Completely guessing if it will ever be a thing in 2027....)

The P4 is just the HD version of the P. No frills and solid and reliable but also pretty boring. Easier and cheaper part of the platform to get in on though for the purposes of tinkering and modifying it. There's a lot more aftermarket support nowadays for the HD stuff.

I think it's a toss up between the P4.5 and the P4X on which hits the roster first. I expect the higher end and more expensive offering to actually hit the roster on or shortly after wider release (july 13th I think)? Given Khoi's one of like 2-3 youtubers who has a video on the thing and I think he mentioned it should be available soon, I have to imagine it's a sign - similar to how he did his C4X video.

I was told the 4.5 will be first for CA and be on the Roster anyday. Them adding 1 gun to the roster at a time is frustrating. I'm sure they have their reasons. I just hear a lot of complaints from customer who buy a model and then one they would of waited for comes out..... over and over again.

customer service reps over the chat told me the reason for delay is in-house production capabilities. A few weeks aback I was told staccato is aiming for August/September, before that target day was June, before that March. I was casually checking in every time target month came and go

Im a dealer so I might know exact dates but can't say. Customer Service Reps have no clue generally.

Feel free to chat with Staccato customer service.
I did a few times. Around new years they said it was coming in April, when it didn’t happen I talked to them again and was told new target was June. Checked back just yesterday, and now they expect to add it in August.Rep said it wasn’t DOJ denying or delaying, issue with production capacity in the house. But he assured me they are not abandoning CA
That is far more info than Stacatto would give me. I called them at least 4 times over the last year trying to find this exact information and they would never elude to anything other than “we are working on it”.

I’ve been chasing the 4.5 too. Reps told me Jan, April, mid summer and mid August. Well it’s mid August now. Fingers crossed. No new guns on the roster at all in 6 weeks (longest stretch since the micro-stamping was enjoined).

I caved in and bought one via ppt. Not abused, seller (military police) said 200ish rounds. I think a little more, but not by a lot. Paid just about what would it cost new with taxes.

I just moved here and after firing a hd 4.5 in person its the only gun I regret not picking up. The ergos, balance, and recoil feel are perfect if you like faster cycling guns. However I had already burned through 10k in off roster purchases by the time I was thinking about it just before the move.

I wouldn't worry too much. It'll hit the roster eventually and if you're not trying to run it in LO and just want a soft and well tracking gun you can also wait for the "P5X" to eventually release.

The CA versions are also so easy to basically make non-CA in any functional way and even mostly aesthetics that it's one of those things I don't think most should worry about too much.
