Springfield XD-M Elite - Magazine Disconnect Question

I have a Springfield XDM Elite OSP CA compliant and it has that very annoying magazine disconnect and upon further inspection it looks like the disconnect is integrated into the front locking block with a single pin. Would this be the best way of removing it?

I have not seen a California XDM apart in person so I don't know which style it is.
Does the Ca XDM block simply block trigger movement until a magazine is inserted?
If so, that is a passive block and you can simply remove it.

There are two types if magazine disconnect designs, passive and active.
Passive trigger blocks are parts that are not required for the gun to work correctly.
Active magazine disconnects are required for the trigger bar to move and removing active blocks will stop the gun from functioning.

The simple test to determine what you have is to take it out and see if the gun still passes a basic function check.
Basic function check is done with an empty gun.
Rack the slide, pull the trigger (continue holding the trigger to the rear), rack the slide, release the trigger and then pull the trigger again.
You should hear the firing pin release on the initial trigger pull and then the disconnector reset when the trigger is released after cycling the slide and then you should hear the firing pin release on the 2nd trigger pull.

After much searching I could not find any video of this so I went in and removed locking block. Punched out 16th inch pin and part and a spring fell out. I put the pin back in but I don't hink it has to be. Reassembled and gun will now fire without a magazine.
