Question Selling Private Party Bulk Ammo to Nevada People?

I have a question and Im pretty certain I know the answer but wanted to double check. It's almost impossible to sell ammo here Private Party to people in bulk. Technically the limit is what, 500 per month and requires an FFL and likely a fee right?, which is insane. Imagine trying to sell a 5k case of 22lr....

I have a bunch or .45 ammo that I may use someday or maybe not, who knows but I'd like to sell it in bulk if I can. Can I just load it in my car and sell it private party across the border to someone in Nevada? I don't need my FFL03/CoE for that right, just coming in with ammo I do, I think..

You can of course, but if you do NOT sell, you "technically" can't bring it back into california. Pretty sure you can just sell it here too though....

How do I sell bulk ammo here… I can bring it back as I have the proper paperwork.

The limit is on the Seller, not the buyer. FFL-03 is irrelevant. Without an ammo reseller's license you are only allowed to sell 500 rds per 30 days.

Ostensibly among other reasons, similar to limits on firearms sales, the State claims there needs to be a divide between private individual sales and commercial sales.

yeah we both know that's bull. Cars don't seem to have that problem...

If you want to sell "large" volumes ongoing, you do have the option of getting a license. Again, just like the 50/5 firearm rule there is nothing between private casual seller and full-blown dealer which is a huge impediment. I'm quite sure that is not by accident.

Im just a guy that has a decent stash of a caliber I don't use anymore but have quiet a bit of so looking to dump it or trade. I guess I can look into the license thing. Who knows maybe it will be a new career! lol

Stretch it out over time, you get to sell 6000 rds a year. The way things are going with ammo prices you'll actually do better this way!

California law does not require an FFL to record the private seller’s information when processing a private-party ammunition transfer. In other words, the state does not track how much ammunition you sell.

I don’t know how close to the border you are, but you can try to find an FFL03/COE holder looking for that caliber that’s willing to meet you in NV to make the purchase. They can legally bring it back into the state.

Obviously, you might have to sell for less than you’d like to get someone to agree to the travel.

Oh. I see what you're saying. That might be possible. Rare but possible. It's enough quantity that It would be worthwhile I feel, considering all the other costs and fees these days not to mention the retail costs even now.

Source? I don't believe that's correct. They don't have to transmit buyers info but do need to collect it for their records for 5 years.
