SCVRC and San Jose Action Pistol Club

We shoot twice a month at the Metcalf 200yd rifle range. New dates are added monthly. See link for our updated calendar.

The club calendar is here: http://scvrc.com/event-calendar

It would include non-APC events as well. We are going to try to do more "action rifle" type of events or matches in 2025 as well. If you're interested in helping run those consider becoming an SCVRC member. We can use more volunteers.

Our membership levels are going through a re-vamp over the next 30 days or so as our members vote on it. This will include a low or no-cost membership option for those that want to participate, but do not necessarily care to vote or run events.

We are shooting Saturday, Nov 9 on the Multipurpose range at Metcalf. Come join us.

This Saturday’s (11/9) event is on the Mulitpurpose range at Metcalf, not the 200rd range.

Please make a note of the schedule and fees. Don't be late.

No, we don’t have a facility that can accommodate matches.
How about outlaw Steel Challenge?

That's one way to get peoples itch scratched.

It's good for people new to an action range to be able to slowly figure out how to run a set of targets at speed without also having to deal with their janky footwork.

We run 4-5 stages, work on shooting fundamentals, do a little pin racing from time to time, basic movement, target transitions and 💩 talk each other and go out for burgers and beer afterwards. It’s a good time. Our December shoot for group 2 is going to be a carbine day.

This sounds fun, but too many familial obligations to hang around till cleanup time.

We have more dates coming up.

Sunday, December 8th; Rifle and Action Pistol

Sunday, December 15th; Rifle and action carbine (carbine days are currently only open to our regular APC group 2 shooters).

This weekend, Sunday 1/12, we have the rifle line at the Metcalf 200yd range. Shooting starts at 8:00am and goes until you run out of ammo or 4pm. We usually have 10-ish shooters on the line so that means no crowds.

The following weekend, Sunday 1/19, we have the range again with the rifle line in the morning and Action Pistol Club at noon to 4pm.

More info at the linked page. See you at the range.

To clarify, the rifle line won't run until 4pm if nobody is there. Typically it closes around noon as that is when most folks are done.

It’s go-time this Sunday.

8-11 Open rifle line
9-12 Action Pistol Group 1
12-4 Carbine Day! For APC Group 2 only.

How many lanes did the old San Jose Municipal Range have? Six? I was a SCVRC member back in the late 80s...

For the rifle only weekends is it more of a free form rifle practice day where one just drops in?
