Hey everyone,

Can anyone help me permanently modify my SCAR stock so it cannot fold? I bought it as a featureless from a retailer but whatever they did obviously was not permanent because now the stock is able to fold. I tried epoxy and with enough pressure I can still get it to break and fold. That's why I prefer a permanent solution.

Currently have my SCAR with an AR adapter with a Magpul fixed stock which looks absolutely hideous. I want my old stock back on but obviously want to stay compliant.

Has anyone permanently done it? If so, please let me know.

Otherwise, I will have to just stick with this hideous AR fixed stock combo lol. Appreciate any input!!
 
Drive out the folder hinge pin. Remove the folding mechanism button (IIRC you need to drive out a small pin) remove the button and spring. Put a few pennies (they are just the right diameter) in the button hole and reinstall the button without the spring. Put the stock back on the gun and drive the hinge pin back in. Easily reversible, so save the spring.

My SCAR 17S has a couple of set screws that were installed in the folding mechanism in the Ugg boot stock to make it stationary. If you're not in a rush, I will try and take a couple of pictures and post them here over the next couple of days.

Be very careful about disassembling the stock folding release button there is a spring inside that has a tendency to fly away, never to be found again. Happened to me and I was only able to get an exact replacement because of a friend I have who works for FN in SC.

The folding mechanism button is completely inoperable, that isn't the issue. The issue is the two locking tabs have sheared so it doesn't fully lock and therefore the stock can be folded with a lot of pressure. I need the stock to be completely unable to fold.

yes i'd love to see the pics. Hopefully that would work.

Although, I am kind of digging the fixed AR magpul stock look now haha. But still would like to disable the folding mechanism.

OK, I will make an opportunity to try and take those pictures for you. It's doesn't seem like you're in a big rush, correct?
 
Ok so I attempted to try and block it permanently with the penny solution but it did not work. The problem is the part where the button latches on the stock is polymer, so with enough force, it will shear it and will be able to fold. It seems impossible to fold when the stock has no resistance, like in your hands. But if you put it on a vice, you will see it start to flex and with enough force, it will fold open. So I can guarantee that installing on the firearm it can happen as well. The problem is unfortunately the design of the stock.

But I think I may have found a solution but I don't know what part I can use.

I need some sort of dowel with the circumference of a penny so I can slip it into the folding button cavity. It must have some some sort of hook so I can loop a pipe clamp around it, thread lock it, and it should not be able to budge at all. Any ideas?
