Not sure if this was mentioned in previous threads, but I did a CCW modification yesterday and found out there is now a 1 handed draw & shoot.

"Drawing from the holster and utilizing only the strong-side hand, the shooter will fire 5 rounds in 15 seconds."

Easy but just a heads up for anyone doing their proficiency qualification soon.

Yeah that caught me by surprise on my renewal. Not a big deal but had to step up lol

Where did that change come from? I did my renewal last month (different agency) and they has us fire using off hand only. Hadn't done that drill in 10 years of CCW.

Qualification Course, (Minimum qualification of 25/30 rounds. Standard B-27, 8-Ring
15-yard line Drawing from the holster the shooter will fire 5 rounds in 20 seconds.
7-yard line Drawing from the holster the shooter will fire 5 rounds in 15 seconds, twice.
5-yard line Drawing from the holster the shooter will fire 5 rounds in 10 seconds, twice.
5-yard line Drawing from the holster and only utilizing strong side hand, the shooter will fire 5 rounds in 15 seconds.

Interesting. Recently I learned the CA-DOJ qualification calls for "off hand 5 rounds"- anyone else encountered this?

Eash issuing agency sets its own qualifying shoot. The only CA-DOJ qualification is for instructors and does not require off-hand shooting.

Modification timeline:

Applied 6/9, approved 6/30. Appointment scheduled for 2 weeks from now. Most time slots are showing "full"

Has anyone here put a gun on their permit that was acquired via a single shot exemption?

Yes. My EDC on my permit is a single shot exemption. Bought it in 2015.

I wouldn’t worry. The lady who works there is very efficient and helpful. You can contact them if you start to get anxious

choose as close to your expiration as possible. new card will be issued for 3 years from date of issuance

I stand corrected. Got hopeful something signed into law 6/30 went into effect 7/1

That doesn't seem accurate. Sac County doesn't require any off hand shots

For sure its not a DOJ requirement, nor was it the IA's. That leaves only the Instructor's in my mind, they could have misread something or added their own special sauce. ITRW training, not a bad thing to do though.

Mine expires on Oct 4, earliest and closest date they have is Sept 1.
