To those who did renewals: do I have to submit my application 90 days before expiration? Or is it within 90 days of expiration?

Within 90 days of expiration.
I tried submitting before the 90 days and got an error message that it's too early.

i.e. My current permit expires in January 2026. If I renew at 90-days from expiration (in October 2025), will my new permit expiration date be January 2028 or will it be October 2027?

Only if SCCSO are morons. Oh wait...

My CCW and four renewals are though another agency that uses the ubiquitous Permitium. I don't know if that did it, or the cool deputy who runs the CCW program, but the start date on the Renewal was the day after the Expiring's and I got the new renewal card a week before that. Since I haven't blasted anyone, I always ask for a discount- getting nowhere on that so far.

I recently had to modify my CCW to add a few handguns as well. I was pleasantly surprised with how quick the process was. Also we get new CCW Ids! I believe the CADOJ created a card template/design that all IA's (or so the person helping me at the SCSO told me). So the new CCW Id's look like an actual ID now, instead of something that looks like it was printed my garage

Also, how're you liking the HD P4? How does it compare to other hammer fire guns (if you have any)

First time shooting it at the qualification. Had no problems with it. Didn’t have any flyer rounds at all.

My impression is good, I wish Werkz Holster made IWB on HD P4, but ended up up with Tier 1.

Shooting a Staccato its like shooting a 1911 with smooth recoil. Feels like a 1911 but imagine having little recoil.

First time shooting it at the qualification. Had no problems with it. Didn’t have any flyer rounds at all.

This isn't my actual ID, but I confirmed that this is the exact format that my SCSO CCW id looks like. I talked with my buddy who has a CCW from the san diego sheriff's office and his is in the same format too

No QA issues? I remember when they first came out, there was a ton of QA issues like tooling marks and the rear iron sight falling out. Good to hear you like though! I have a staccato P (for now, until I sell it) and a C2. I've always wondered how the HD compares since the P/C2 are based on series 70 1911s and the HD is similar to the series 80 1911s (specifically, having a FPB)

Sounds so nice!!! My Kobra carry is a little heavier at around 42 oz loaded. It takes some getting used to when carrying. I ended up with a Vedder and a Black Dog holster. The belt was real important and in the end I use a Wolf Tactical or the Tier 1 version of the Hunter- Constantine. ( forget what they call it ) both are good. The Tier1 belt I can use all day with no back strain. It’s pricey at about $115 but worth it.
My friend in Monterey just got an Stacatto also and he loves it!

no sir, no QA issue. running a rcr trijicon with x300 surefire.

you hit it head on. the belt does make a difference. I have been running the tier 1 EDC S belt as well that cost 115 but well worth the money and comfort.

Got my modified card. No more Blue Label; its Green and is laminated so that it prevents letters being erased

Hell yeah - I think the new cards are so much nicer than the original ones we had lol. The old design just looked fake or made up haha
