She's threatening to can your app because she has some arbitrary and capricious problem (he was rude with her?) with your reference? You have her email. I'd be sending the sheriff a note indicating that his reviewer has lost perspective and is no longer capable of rendering an objective evaluation of the application.

And copy the entire BoS's. Corpus is scared 💩less of them right now and her man-pet is "managing" the CCW program.
 
Update- picked up my permit today

12/26/23- applied
12/27/23 - SMCS confirms receipt
12/29/23 - livescan
12/31/23- provided ATI to SMCS
5/16/25- in-person interview
7/9/25 - request for 3 references
9/9/25 - permit approved
10/4/25 - submit training certificate
10/9/25 - received call to schedule pick up 10/10/25

Thanks for the timeline. I applied around same time in 2024 and so far nada. With the whole sheriff debacle I'm not sure how much longer it's going to be.
 
Thought I would bump this thread up as I am renewing my CCW now. Here is my timeline so far:
Permit expires on 6/6/2026
  • 3/01 - Book renewal training course with Saber Tactics for 3/14
  • 3/08 - Received email from San Mateo County Sheriffs stating my permit is set to expire with a link to apply online.
  • 3/10 - Filled out Renewal application online and uploaded documents. DL and 2 forms of residency (Credit Card Statement and Bank Statement)
  • 3/10 - Received Text from San Mateo Sheriff that application received.
  • 3/13 - Received Text from San Mateo Sheriff that application was approved! (Damn that was fast)
  • 3/14 - This Saturday is my renewal course training with Saber Tactics
  • TBD - Receive certification from Saber
  • TBD - Send certification to San Mateo Sheriff
  • TBD - Receive notification to come pick up new CCW

Can't beat that. Compared to the Sheriff that got fired and her boyfriend running the CCW program- this is quite impressive. There's a new Sheriff in town...taking care of business.
