I had a lengthy discussion with an off-duty SMC Deputy a few months back regarding the same topic - he shared the same sentiments; CC and Anelle has to go, but he was conflicted over the BoS's ability intervene and remove an elected official, even if the measure has a specified timeframe. He also had an idea of who the BoS would appoint, but declined to share their name - though he was confident CC's successor would be a solid pick and a great Sheriff.

The deputy didn't sound like he was on the force for long (less than 5 years) so I was quite interested to pick his brain on the matter.

They could also appoint an interim Sheriff- take the time pressure off the search and let things cool down for a few months or so. I've heard the retired Chief of San Mateo Police (and interim Chief for 15 minutes at Oakland PD) name come up as a good candidate, no idea if she has interest. These 💩storms come along and I'd expect it makes top candidates look elsewhere- there's no more efficient communications network than LEO's, they either know or know someone who knows every other LEO in the state- so there's no hiding the truth nor a wad or rumors.

CC has embarrassed the agency and herself, she will never escape that so her LEO career is over. If I hear her utter, "I'm a woman" or "I'm Latino" one more time- it will be too soon.

So, before the Sheriff's administration change and after the Supreme Court's concealed "shall issue" ruling, the average CCW processing time was 6-9 months. After Anelle's "brilliant rebuild," he fired several key staff members, worked his magic, and presto, the current processing is 19 months. TG, he is back to further "improve the program"—just like every other dumpster fire he has lit over the last two years.

Agreed - she'll probably get as much as she can (money-wise) legally through the courts, write a book about her experience being a Latina woman in law enforcement, and if maybe a CNN-interview or two for major events. :ROFLMAO:
 
Board of Supervisors just voted this morning to unanimously remove Sheriff Corpus. Now she has 5 days to appeal to a 6-person board that will decide final action.

Well, guess what- word from the CCW team in the San Mateo SO is that Victor Anelle is (in fact) back on the CCW team ...... We should start a betting pool. How much the County lawyers' work costs + the BoS costs +Corpus continued salary & benies + her "go- away" money. Bonus pints if you guess correctly if she settles or not.

A free set of used earplugs to whomever comes closest without going over!

(Wonder if there is a way to use the betting pool using the voting tool?)
