It’s standardized state wide as to what the process is. Pretty much if you can pass the background to buy a gun, you can get your CCW. As long as you can pass the training and go through the process, you’re good.

Unfortunately, Santa Maria PD has some extremely high fees. However my students from SMPD have gotten their CCWs quite quickly.

I just spoke with SBSO today and they are highly impacted and taking a while to issue permits. So likely they may be a little over a couple month wait.

Back in May I did my renewal and was one of the first in the county to get one of the new hard cards. No more laminating the oversized folded paper.
I am in Templeton
Hopefully the county can put politics aside and we can get more certified trainers. I miss renewing with Dan Wells.

How long did the SLO SO renewal process take?

How long did the SLO SO renewal process take?
Submitting the renewal application, uploading paperwork, scheduling my qualifications at the range and receiving my card was all under 30 days. Probably sooner if I didnt have to wait over a week for the class date.
This is also about my 5th or 6th renewal, so everything is like a well-oiled machine at this point.

Thanks for the reply - one more question re renewal
Did you have to submit 3 reference letters for your renewal?

The reason I ask is shortly after I submitted my application for renewal I received what appeared to be a boilerplate email response from permitium stating my “renew permit application” has been submitted. Included in the email was a list of item’s needed for the application which included 3 letters of reference.
Later I received an email from the SLO SO Bob Adam’s listing the additional information needed to complete the application was the current training certificates & no mention of reference letters.

I only had to for my initial and I think maybe for my first renewal but that was years ago

Its been awhile- how receptive is the SLO Sherriff on issuing CCW permits? Are there fair numbers of them already? Hardly ever hear good or bad about the county or city programs. TIA.

Still wondering. What's the room temperature for SLO issuing CCW permits? Is it a Santa Clara County-like mess or more receptive? TIA
