San Jose Raises CCW total cost to over $2000

So disgusting. There needs to be a cap on fees. The psych eval needs to be removed IMO. The investigator told me only 1 person hasn't passed the eval so far... so we are all paying $400 just to stop a few people from getting a license. As far as the qualification, I felt like the whole think was a scam. Maybe I picked a bad instructor but still. The whole 16 hour thing is BS that wasn't even followed. It should be cut down to a 30 min shooting qual and be capped to $100 IMO. Around here all of the 16 hour classes are $400+, it's BS.

Interesting, considering the person who failed the psych eval already owns a firearm LOL.
There's literally nothing physically stopping them from just illegally concealing the firearm they already own anyway.

Logically the psych eval makes sense to include with the FSC + basic handling, not during CCW. Then $0 for CCW, since it's unconstitutional in the first place.

Most of what my CCW course experience was:
- "Don't point it at what you don't intend to shoot." (Rehashing all the safety things from the FSC)
- Slap, rack, bang
- Here's how to clear and store firearms
- Disassembly and maintenance (make sure it's unloaded before pulling the trigger on a glock to remove the slide)
- Choosing defensive ammo so you don't get unintentional passthrough (back to point #1)
- How to holster, draw, and take stance (isosceles stance GOATED; sorry Weaver stance)
- Covering some legal aspects: criminal and civil liabilities since they can be perused separately.
- Mental health resources are available if you're feeling depressed, etc.
- Plus several USCCA shilling segments.

Live fire was pretty easy. 24 out of 24 rounds for each of my firearms.
5, 7, and 9 yards with 8 rounds at each distance for 24 total. 17/24 is passing.

The emphasis on mental health for CCW, with respect to suicides, was a bit odd. Already owning a firearm is a precursor to CCW in the first place. The order of dependencies doesn't put having a CCW as a precursor to someone taking their life.

Was it worth $350 for 16 hours? IMO, no. That all could be realistically covered by the CA FSC anyway.

Edit:
Total for OC: $300 OCSD + ~$120 LiveScan + $350 CCW Training = ~$770
Yes, cheaper CCW training is available, but this was convienently at the range I already go to for fun anyway.

Seems like their total cost just steers you towards Santa Clara County, whose office is like across the street. SJ doesn't want to deal with it. They suck.

Save the money… as in don’t do
It at all? or just wait?

Let me know what you’re thinking and why.

Thanks!
If you havent done it yet. You might find you wont carry as much as you think(unless your already do ). Even less so with sensitive places(assume you would comply ) vs waiting for it to be a 3 year. ( unless your literally mean jan 2027. Lol.

I have known a few people who got it, waited a year then never carried once or less then a handful of times or thought they could fine a high paying ccw security job.

' but, but, but-----Bruen? ' hilarious... now do you get why these lawsuits are meaningless and go nowhere for forever?
" instead of filing endless lawsuits that go nowhere for decades against these bills/ laws, why not remove the people who keep making these bills/ laws, so that one does not have to keep filing these meaningless lawsuits "
'"bonta just issued a letter basically stating that they will not comply with federal law. (shrugs)
you seem not to realize the endless game that is played with these lawsuits and how they are designed to go on forever with stay orders and injunctions "

Wondering how much I'll be charged to vote in the next election. smh
your personal info has probably been used 7 times already to vote for these laws without you even knowing about it. welcome to california's voting.

Legitly. For Ccw holders putting on your gun should be like bringing your wallet, keys, and phone out the door. If you spent all that time and money…. Why go out neutered.

And what’s with all the guys who show up to quals or renewal who can’t even operate their gun safely, let alone shoot a group on the target

When will there be consequences for these brazen attempts to end run Bruen? These politicians should face legal sanctions for writing unconstitutional nonsense.
never. they will just keep writing these bills as to what has been occurring for years on end. (shrugs)

Everyone in my CCW class was pretty good, a few were actually really good

That’s how the legal system and constitution and checks and balances works in the USA. Not the perfect system but best we have.

voting fraud, corruption, and violating the constitution are NOT the legal system. comical.
for the umteenth time now, we, the citizens, are allowing this.

But I get it. no one on here actually cares and wants the change that they keep screaming about (to what it is supposed to be or what it once was), they just like to rant about it every day on a website. (shrugs)
