Sac Sheriff has never published constraints on CCW arms except for caliber limitations and rifle-caliber pistols.

In Feb, when I renewed my license, the instructor was touting the use of optics, and I qualified 2 guns with optics on stock factory slides.

There are a lot of opinions on CCW firearm modifications including aftermarket triggers. It basically comes down to risk mitigation. If you have to shoot someone you want to reduce the number of factors for evaluators to consider. Retaining the stock trigger is the easiest way to eliminate an entire path of investigation.

There is no published policy on this issue. That means it is neither authorized nor prohibited. You are being licensed to carry a loaded firearm in public. As such, the Sheriff expects folks to exercise good judgement in in what and how they carry.

I asked them through email and phone calls, just a week ago. They said only sight and grip mods are acceptable. Also explicitly said milling or swapping in an optics ready slide is not accepted, according to them.
