Hello everyone,

I was browsing the LGS and saw this in the consignment case.

It’s a S&W 2206. Sort-of uncommon and a bit of an oddball (which is why I was attracted, haha!!).

All stainless. The barrel is *below* the recoil assembly (looks a bit like a Chiappa Rhino). The mag release is on the front strap. The mags are the same as the Model 41, so easy enough to find. This also has a mag disconnect.

Doesn’t look like it was used much. $450 OTD. Not bad at all. Way off roster of course, haha!!

Nice find indeed. Very clean, the magazine follower doesn't even show wear.

Would be interested to hear how it shoots.
Thanks!!

The early models came with 12-round mags. S&W eventually transitioned to 10-rounds to make state compliance easier. I’ve got some 12’s for it.

I was going to shoot a few mags through it, but the vultures are hanging out by my range and I don’t want to spook them, haha!! They’ll eventually take off, so hopefully I can get to it later today.

Nice pick up.
Looks like you found the Target model.

If you like 22LR you will giggle when shooting the 2206.
Almost no recoil and no muzzle rise.
Have the S & W 22A-1, 2206, 422

My first handgun purchase.
Shooting the snot out of it I found a failure point....the recoil guide plug.
The top half will fly off but the handgun will still function.
Loaded up on them so no worries.
How many rounds ????
Almost always bring out and shoot 200-300 rds.
I run it wet with Mobil 1 and have very little wear...no grease for me in a 22LR.

2206 is almost twice the weight as the 422/622

Models do have the Mag/Disc and cocked indicator on the bottom of grip.
Some find the magazine release a little odd "push lever" front center of grip.
Pickle fingers can have a harder time using it.

Slightly ammo picky but I usually run CCI MinMag anyway.
Seems to like Federal Champion 36g copper HP for cheaper ammo.

ENJOY

@foothillman thanks for the tip about the recoil guide plug!! I’ll keep an eye out for spares.

I’m a huge fan of accurate 22 pistols. Both Short and Long Rifle. Looking forward to seeing what this can do.

The front sight is pinned into the frame.
Replacing it is a unknown.
Just looking at it figured it will stay.
Black on Black sights a little tough as WE age.
Used 1 coat white and 1 coat neon orange.
Tooth pick as a brush.
Easy to peel off but tough enough to stay.

Possible a machine shop could drill it and add fiber optic.
Willing to do on on my Beretta but not the 2206

Remember I shoot the snot out of this so your wear should be much less.
That is why I picked up the 422 and 22A-1 to give it a rest.

My barrel is showing impact wear and has NOT caused any failures.
Good place to look and judge how much it was fired.
I did buy another barrel for that day.

Slide has no adverse wear.
Can still see the machine marks.

2206 were common at every gun store in the early 1990's but disappeared when S&W replaced them with the cheaper 22A.
I have a 422 and a 22A and a Victory but I never got the stainless 2206.
The Victory takes the place of the 2206 now as it's also heavy like a 2206.

Nice find. I found a barley used Ruger MK1 and a 6" Bull barrel stainless both for 400.00 at a local GS. Unfortunately I don't have enough allocation in the Black Ops fund to buy either.

I’d buy that.

My friend has one and it’s great.
