Ruger's .45 ACP LC Carbine coming...

Why use the slow and heavy 45 ACP as a rifle round? The round is designed with fast powder to work well in a 3-4 inch barrel. Shooting it from a rifle barrel doesn't do anything useful. It flies slow, so it is hard to use at intermediate ranges (bullet drop at 100 or 200 yards must be difficult).
The 9mm as a rifle round sort of makes sense; it is supersonic, and there are special loadings (like the Swedish SMG rounds) that are designed for longer machine gun barrels, yet can be fired from handguns. The 5.7x28 is explicitly designed to do reasonably well in both handgun-length and carbine length barrels. But the 45 ACP just makes no sense, other than as a plinker. And for that, 9mm or 22 is just a better idea.

why? because some people just like shooting 45? its a PCC. and 45 is a pistol caliber...if you wanna shoot 45 go right ahead. i shoot my AR45 way more than my AR9. it does just fine at 100 yards. hell i shoot all my pistols at 100yrds. i get pretty good hits at 200 yards with a thompson..

My now deceased mentor, used to have a Beretta CX4 in .45 auto, way, way back (IIRC they were actually pretty rare, with the 9mm ones being much more common). I remember shooting it as one of my first rifles. Was super controllable recoil and, easy to shoot. Would tear through the 9 rd mag in a sec though, LOL. Miss that thing. Id be interested in trying out the Ruger LC 45 someday too.

Dyslexia sucks! I read the title as Ruger is releasing a .45LC carbine. That would have been really cool.
