Ruger Mark III and Mark II Grip Compatibility

Hi All, wondering if grips between a Ruger Mark II and Mark III would have any compatibility? Or are they specific to their respective models?

The grip frames are compatible between the Mark II and Mark III, Standard as well as 22/45. Sometimes the lug on the grip frame that locks into the receiver is very tight. I have some Rugers that I can disassemble by hand and other that require a persuasive smack from a rubber mallet.

To be clear, I am referring to the grip panels, can these be swapped between the mark ii and mark iii?

Yes and no. The Mark III has a magazine release button so if you’re trying to put Mark II grips on a Mark III you’ll have to do a little dremel work. If you’re going the other way, Mark III grips on Mark II then it should fit fine but your will have a little missing material on the grip panel where there is no magazine release. I have Hogue overmold grips on both of my Mark II’s, one was made for a Mark III and the other for a Mark II/III they both fit fine.
