Just picked up a Circuit Judge. I had no interest in one until I discovered they come in ODG from the factory. I’m a sucker for ODG, haha!!

Seems like a cool little rifle. I’ve got a troll’s hoard of .410. One of these days I’ll see how it shoots.

It’s a swing out. Also shoots .45LC of course.

Yes, but it plugs two chambers (it's a 5-shot).

It's a rifled barrel. Will shoot .410 or 45 LC (and probably .45 Schofield too, haha!!)

What does the rifling do to shot? Usually, if the shot load spins in the barrel, it makes the resulting pattern very wide, and not useful for bird hunting.

CA Shotgun definition:

Can't have a shotgun with a revolving cylinder in CA, but a rifle with a revolving cylinder is A-OK, haha!!

The Tuffy Survival (like the Taurus Judge or S&W Governor revolvers) are a no-go in CA due to CA SBS definition:

17180. As used in this part, “short-barreled shotgun” means any of the following:
(a) A firearm that is designed or redesigned to fire a fixed shotgun shell and has a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length.
(b) A firearm that has an overall length of less than 26 inches and that is designed or redesigned to fire a fixed shotgun shell.
(c) Any weapon made from a shotgun (whether by alteration, modification, or otherwise) if that weapon, as modified, has an overall length of less than 26 inches or a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length.
(d) Any device that may be readily restored to fire a fixed shotgun shell which, when so restored, is a device defined in subdivisions (a) to (c), inclusive.
(e) Any part, or combination of parts, designed and intended to convert a device into a device defined in subdivisions (a) to (c), inclusive, or any combination of parts from which a device defined in subdivisions (a) to (c), inclusive, can be readily assembled if those parts are in the possession or under the control of the same person.

Cool. I’ve wanted one these ever since I saw them back in the early 2000-teens back when I was a Bass Pro counter guy.

How is the double-action trigger pull compared to a good revolver, and is that some sort of shield I see that mitigates powder burns to the shooter’s support hand when being fired?
Is the rifling shallow, or conventional, and is it OK to use .410 slugs in it?

The DA pull is very close to a good revolver. It feels like it can be slicked up, either through use or a little internal work. The SA is very crisp.

Yes, those are ‘gas deflector shields’ (good eye, haha!!)

Rifling is conventional. You can use slugs.

It has two screw in ‘chokes’:
- One is a ‘straight rifled choke’ when shooting .410 (other than slugs)
- One is a ‘thread protector sleeve’ when shooting .45LC or .410 slugs
