Red-Mag Redi-Catch or Troy/Norgon Ambi-Catch?

Hi everybody,

Decisions decisions. I'm new to ARs and am wondering which option would be more practical for me. I'm a righty. I already have an ambi safety selector and charging handle. I plan on betting a Redi-Mag Redi-Release (making the bolt catch ambi).

Heck, I might even throw in a Redi-Mag at some point, but can I use it with an HRF Mil-Spec magwell?

if you are feeling spicy with a dremel you can install the Sig Sauer ambi bolt catch on a mil spec lower, I've done it to a couple of my lowers.

I love the Redi-Catch and the fact that failure just leaves you with a standard bolt release is nice.

I personally like Norgon the best. Stiffest, but it hides all the parts that would be otherwise exposed and rust easier inside the lower receiver and protects them from being exposed to the elements which I like. Also keeps the button more tucked in and less prone to accidental mag releases or snagging.

I like the Marine connection with the Norgon and less exposure to snags and the elements sounds good.

I meant to mention the Red-Catch in my original post, which would make an ambi mag release unavailable it seems. I like the idea of having the Red-Catch to take care of malfunctions quicker, but again I'm new to ARs. Maybe a Norgon would be better for me. I just bought a load of accessories before and during the Memorial Day sales and am trying to back off a bit/be more selective, but it's not easy!

Eventually I would like to get an HRF magwell and/or a Redi-Mag; I just don't know yet if I can have both at the same time. Maybe I could somehow trim the magwell, if needed. Also, a Norgon ambi mag release miiiight just work with a Redi-Mag, but it's hard to be sure from the Redi-Mag photos. There's a photo on their website of a Redi-Release and a Norgon on the same AR.

The Redi-Mag will interfere with both the Norgon and HRF magwell. Redi-Mags are a vibe, but the bulk and weight usually aren't worth it, safe for certain use cases like HD guns or patrol rifles.

Thanks. I'm thinking about trimming my HRF magwell. Don't know if that's a good idea. I'm considering a Redi-Mag for my home/property defense rifle. I ordered a Redi-Mag a few hours ago, then I got the email letting me know about your post!

There are a few different ambi bolt catch options these days.
I have milled lowers for several of them.
