Poll Red Dot or Not on your CCW weapon?

I haven't tried but I plan to. I can't do the single dot. I think circle dot should work just because its a larger area

For whatever reason it really helps me. Some companies have better MRS systems than others but I really like the ones on Osight RMSc dots like the OSight SE
Hopefully there's a shop around you where you can see some different ones next to each other to really compare them

Some LEO’s I spoken with mention they know others that don't even carry back ups!!! But those that do no RDS while in uniform. Now off duty it’s a mix of both but the argument for those that do, it’s because there used to RDS on everything they use and also poor eyesight.

2 of them have one, my P2000SK is old school so trijicon night sights. Other than some bulk there’s really no serious downside. Red dots are better to shoot with

this topic comes up quarterly, everyone has their reasons and opinions, personally I hate irons, I don't mind the extra bulk and I'm right and everyone else is wrong. But also everyone else is right because it doesn't matter as long as you train. the only thing that's wrong is that county that doesn't allow dots on their CCW permits.

I think with the holosun circle dot you’ll be okay. I think I have a minor astigmatism. With the circle dot I never see anything off. In daytime I see dots perfectly as a circle. But indoors with high brightness or at night time I can see starburst unless I turn down the brightness a lot

The SE looked a little small on my PDP since the PDP is chonky. I switched it out for the XR on the PDP and it fits it better
But for my smaller carry guns the SE fits great

I am opposite . I find green easier to use during daytime.

I like Holosun combo with dot in the middle and 32moa circle.

And I didn't even know they made blue....

I drew my gun and the combination of the sun being directly in front of me and lint being on the optic made it so I couldn't see the dot at all (or through the optic really).

My work is extremely dusty and I would have to clean off my red dots when I got off due to how filled with debris they would get over the course of a single shift, it made me switch to enclosed optics. Went from a Holosun 407c to the EPS and it's fantastic. Ended up getting a Vortex Defender CCW enclosed for my other carry gun and am a fan of that one too.

I think it's a great concept. Some might think it gimmicky, but for me, it really works. I love the chevron.

See, this is why I love this sight! I learn something new every day. I never heard of the ACSS Vulcan. Going down that rabbit hole now.

Different take from me...

This was around the time when the hype around Holosun’s ACSS Vulcan was at its peak. There were even YouTube channels, including some from apparently competent shooters, heralding the benefits of the ACSS.

At the time, I was starting to shift to red dots because I was slowly becoming unable to see closer, ie., iron sights. So, not knowing any better, I got the ACSS to replace the circle-dot setup I was getting frustrated with.

I got rid of it after about two months and went back to just dots.

A few reasons: I felt it became a crutch that kept me from building a more natural point of presentation. The chevron also felt too busy, with information I didn’t really need. And for unconventional shooting positions, like shooting sideways or from odd angles, the chevron wasn’t as intuitive because it isn’t rotationally uniform like a circle or a dot. The sight picture just felt awkward to me.

Just an anecdotal reference from my own experience.

I have ACSS on my PCC...... And I think that even there it is overkill. And for handgun that is definitely overkill. I think it may make sense on a rifle....

The beauty of a dot vs irons is it allows complete target focus. What comes along with that is you learn to just point gun at your target without "aiming" and the index just comes naturally. It's really simple, focus on your target and put the dot on it. You don't want to think about what part of the dot to put on the target you want to put the dot there and press the trigger.

Also add: whenever my index isn't good it's because I'm not target focused and the remedy is to target focus, the acss circle is "aiming" because you are inherently dot focused at that time, you are paying attention to the dot or circle and not the target

Dot Curious

Im iron right now but when I renew Im leaning towards migrating. Im training with a dot gun in the mean time.

Heres my reasons for converting:

• Co-witness! If you get the setup right, 1/3 sight co-witness is the perfect win/win. You can have the best of both worlds, failsafes, etc.
• Target acquisition is faster
• Irons, 2 eyes open, target focus, I sometimes get this weird "double iron site" phenomenon. I can 2 eye target focus with a dot without issue.
