Question for the zaffiri Glock slide folks

Hey, I wanted to ask when you guys installed your channel liner for zaffiri precision Glock slide, was it a tight fit?

It’s my first time messing with aftermarket Glock slides; I’m use to Oem. This is a zaffiri g26 gen 3 slide; black nitrided.

The first two Oem channel liners cracked, was a pain to get out, compared to removing the Oem channel liner from an Oem Glock slide which is easy to wiggle out; using the tru-glo channel liner tool. Heating up the slide channel with heat from a blow dryer didn’t work. I had to order an extended tap to remove it (thanks to a suggestion from another member here).

After installing the third one without cracking, i tapped it all the way down already with a nylon mallet using tru-glo channel liner tool, I can’t even press the firing pin plunger all the way down to clear the back plate; it needs about another 1/16 or 1/8 for the backplate to clear. I tried rechecking my work and tapping harder on the Oem channel liner with tool and it still didn’t work. I ended up needing to remove the good Oem not cracked channel liner; and not even using an Oem channel liner at all. The third one, both tru-glo channel liner and extended tap both didn’t work; I needed to use a lag bolt to remove it because it was stuck in there.

I’m reading online that technically I can get away without using a channel liner; even though by the book, should have one installed.

So, technically I just burned through three Oem Glock channel liners over this one slide; within a week without even going to the range to fire it.

I have a Zaffiri G19 slide and didn't have any issues with either an OEM or Zaffiri liner. Am able to remoove either one with a nylon bore brush

Sounds like an out of spec slide. You shouldn't have to fight getting the liner off or on.

I think Zaffiri slides are of dubious quality when it comes to out of spec channels. You might have light primer strikes.

So what would you guys do in this scenario if it were your slide? Don’t install the channel liner? Try to shrink the channel liner by putting it in the freezer? The slide doesn’t qualify for warranty; bought it second hand new awhile back, but I had the slide black nitrided so even if it was new the company could say I modified it?

Hone the striker channel bore to make a channel liner fit correctly or thin a channel liner to make it fit your out-of-spec slide.
The gun will be unsafe without a channel liner as the striker will be able to move up and down too much within the slide.

Personally, I would get rid of it. There are much better quality slides available, but you do pay the premium. Or get your OEM slide cut or milled to suit your needs - https://jagerwerks.com/glock/slide-milling/ as an option, there are others who do same type of service.
