Wondering if anybody knows what the legalities of purchasing a PTR 91 (pistol) pp transfer at the dealers.... But I only want to transfer the receiver there... Is that legally possible... Or does the gun have to be complete... While it sits in jail for 10 days... thanks

Usually on a Ppt the dealer needs to observe safe handling of complete firearm. Might find a dealer to convert one to SSE at a costly amount. Don't see too many of those in CA.
Thanks for the quick reply... Couldn't I just do the safe handling demonstration and then separate the lower from the upper and he keeps the lower for the 10 days... That's the part that I'm wondering about the most I guess... It doesn't really matter that much, but I prefer to always take as much home of whatever I'm buying as possible to avoid any problems occurring at the dealer or any other things that may come...

The dealer would probably want to keep it together in Single Shot form.

This is for ppt; right? If it’s dros as a pistol receiver, you should need not to do a safe handgun demonstration since there is nothing to demonstrate. Whenever I’ve done ppt, as the buyer for pistol receivers, I have not needed to do it. However another work around if your local FFL’s absolutely insists on the demonstration, during the dros process, you could show a valid ccw permit or hunting license to get around the demonstration.
I’m guessing the other party doesn’t have another way of making it compliant?
Whoa whoa wait. It has to be single shot. I thought private party of non-single shot ones that were bought back in the day were okay... Guess I've been under a rock for a long time... So even a gun that was purchased single shot and then converted to semi has to be resold single shot again? Or is that just how all of them are now... I thought that was only for when they were coming in and being sold that way and then after you could convert it to semi-auto,?

Ppt does not have to be SSE. Has to be 10rd mag lock....like the SP5s floating around. Should be able to find a magcatch lock for HKs, and block a mag to 10rds. Sorry, wasn't clear you already had a PPT in mind.

Just has to be maglocked . No other work around for pistols of rifle variant . That im aware of

If it’s for a semi auto pistol, with the magazine well not within the handgrip, that the seller doesn’t have another way of making the gun compliant; for a ppt, they can dros as a semi auto receiver.
Yeah I was wondering that too. How does that work with just a receiver? I'm not sure how you would make it more compliant. He bought it as a single shot pistol I'm assuming back in the day converted it to semi-auto (I'm assuming) and it sat ever since.... This maze of laws is impossible to keep track of cuz every time you think you have something that's legal and right there's another twist for it to be that way... I've purchased quite a few single shot exempt AK and AR pistols and didn't know that if I went to sell one I would have to make it a single shot again... I try to keep up on all the laws but I must have missed that.... I could swear I've seen people advertised AR pistol receivers for sale and I just assumed you went and transferred them that way and didn't have to do anything else

No, you don’t have to physically/mechanically convert or make it single shot again. Stop listening to that. It’s confusing you.
Any single shot exempt pistol bought from the old boat of sse that closed down. Just find an ffl that is willing to dros in its current configuration; which is semi auto. If not, they would just be the kind to put single shot again on the new dros. I would find one that is willing to dros it in its current configuration.

Does the seller have the maglatch fixed mag device for HK91/G3? That’s the only fixed mag device I know of that will fit that gun. That pistol is an hk51 pistol clone; but just PtR’s version, correct?
If he doesn’t have a fixed mag device, for that semi auto pistol with a magazine well that is not within the handgrip. You guys will need to dros it as a semi auto receiver. The ffl can’t have AW’s sitting in the shop during the ten days; just in case of an audit.
If he does have a fixed mag device, then you guys wouldn’t need to dros as semi auto receiver; it’s already compliant.
