Pros and cons of selling out of state?

So I have some Milsurps and a few other rifles, I’m considering to offload.
Really don’t want the hassle of selling online or dealing with CA FFL’s in The SF Bay Area.

I have considered a road trip to Reno, Vegas, or Arizona. Take the rifles I want to sell.
Only sold one shotgun at the Big Reno Show years back. It was an ok experience.

I’d appreciate hearing opinions on what other people would consider doing.

driving to another state sounds like a lot more hassle than just doing a transfer here, plus you will probably get less money

Cons are free states the value may be lower depending on the guns. Especially any handgun that is off roster.

Pros probably be an easy deal and you can use that money for ammo.

If you have your FFL03, you can sell to other FFL03's here in CA without going to an FFL01. There are quite a few milsurp collectors here and on other forums. CMP forum for example we buy and sell milsurp rifles, pistols, parts, accessories. I cannot speak to going out of state to sell anything and am not familiar with those laws.

There are quite a few dealers to sell your collection to and then let them do all the work. You get a check when it is all said and done. These will take a percent of any profits and you get the remainder. LSB, GB seller Bryant Ridge, GunauctionsUSA, JackTheDog to name a few

Do you have to have an 03 to sell to an 03? Can't 03s buy C&R long guns from anyone?

FFL03 holders can buy C&R long guns from anyone, cash and carry. Seller doesn’t have to have an FFL03.

I've bought and sold all over the county. To get the most bang for your buck involves footwork. If you don't do it someone has to, that reaches into your profit margin. You could always offer to deliver to the buyer's 01 FFL (if they're not an 03 COE) for a fee. That's what I do to help the fella save the on second FFL trip. I do it on an internet handshake for gas ducats. PAX
