Pro tip for most any gun you might attempt to dis/reassemble... Get a large-ish (1-2 gallon size is about right) CLEAR ziplock or other similar bag, and do your disassembly in that bag to reduce springs and such from flying about and being devoured by carpet monsters, ne'er to be seen again. It's still possible for one or two things to escape the bag, but the odds will be more in your favor you'll have everything when time comes to reassemble!

If you remove the mag disconnect will the mags drop freely when you hit the mag release? I HATE that they don’t currently but am hesitant to remove the mag disconnect on a carry gun, even though it has nothing to do with safety in a legitimate self defense shooting scenario. I get that it’s only for preventing NDs from idiots who don’t understand how guns work and don’t follow the basic safety rules, but just the fact that they call it a “safety” gives me pause about removing it and how some prosecutor might perceive that or be able to twist it if god forbid I ever had to defend myself.

Yup, mags drop freely from all of the different grip modules I have, which is Micro, X/XL, Wilson X/XL both with & without manual safety and the Wilson Macro with the short dust cover.

Look I keep a fire extinguisher and epi pen in my car just in case, doesn’t mean I worry about my car catching fire or someone I’m with having a severe allergic reaction constantly. I carry a CCW now, doesn’t mean I’m constantly anxious about getting violently assaulted. It’s prudent to think about this stuff and weigh the pros and cons. We’re in CA and there is a lot of gray area and overzealous DAs/prosecutors, that’s part of the price we pay to live here. Most people will tell you not to touch any safeties or triggers on a carry gun and it’s not hard to argue it isn’t worth it, I’ll make the decision I think is best for me
