Osight SE Dead Already...

Hi Gun Fanciers,

So, I thought I would try out an Osight SE for the DWX Compact. I know, the optic reputation doesn't exactly match the DWXc. It's too early for the battery to be dead, and the battery compartment has the tiniest screws in the known Universe, two of which I'm struggling to get open until I find my teeny tiny driver set.

How on Earth did the Osight die so fast? Never had this issue with HoloSun and the Gideon Pebble (on the Bodyguard 2.0) seems to be doing fine. I also hate the Osight SE buttons, which are super hard to press when hitting both to shut off the unit. I found a way to do it using the adjustment screw, pressing very hard on the + so I could hit the - with my thumb.

Anyone else had similar issues? Now I need to shop for an RMSc optic for the DWXc, and it won't be another Osight!

Hit up their customer support, see if they replace it, no hassle or not and report back

God punishing you for defacing the DWX 😎

My bad, I guess the battery died (strangely fast) despite my new technique to turn off those hard and non-tactile buttons. Holosun feels Cadillac-smooth in comparison. Got a new battery in and it works fine. I took the HoloSun 507k off the P365 and put that on the DWXc. The Osight will probably go on the P365, which I may sell if I like the CZ P-10 C Ported better (currently in jail). I'm kind of a CZ fanboy anyway.

I hadn't even messed with the Osight battery yet so no idea what happened there. I was at the range, I hit the plus button, and nothing. The HoloSuns last forever by comparison.

We'll see how long this battery lasts! I know it's off so there's no reason the battery should be running down.

Which battery and brand are using? Does the label have the child bitter logo on it?

My point: https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/threads/trijicon-do-not-use-duracell-cr2032-batteries.2553825/

I had the default battery in the Osight, the one that it shipped with. Don't recall the bitter warning or anything like that. Looked like a normal disc-type battery.
I’m finding online that it uses a 1620 battery. Which brand was the default battery? Maybe try using a nicer brand for the battery?

The new brand I'm using is Celewell. Not a brand-name by any means, but I've had bad luck with "brand name" hearing aid batteries like Energizer. The no-name brands have been far superior.

I had a few issues with different red dots using any of the original batteries. Now I just put in a different battery before I even use it the first time.

Yeah I'm curious to ask them about this. I want to know why the battery ran down with the optic off. Even if it were on, these batteries are supposed to last what, 50,000 hours?
Sounds like a short. Like there is a power bleed from faulty soldering etc.

Or could have just been a defective battery. Time will tell I suppose!

I have a lot of Osights and never had an issue with them. I also have a lot of Holosun which I have had failures and had to send back for repairs or replacement. Like all electronics no matter what it is there are going to be some failures.

I sold all my trijicons and other optics to switch to osight and have like 3 Osight C and 2 Osight SE. Their customer service is great,. Something was my fault that damaged the emitter and they shipped me a new one free of charge. The battery tray opens via the tool that came with your optic that you use to zero it.

My take on Osight (make sure you don't get Olight Osight but just Osight):

The quality of them are great for the price and what I use them for (CCW & USPSA/IDPA) and have a lot of features I like that I think Trijicon and Holosun don't do well. The dot & glass is super crispy and clean and no blue tint or fisheye that you get from Holosun/Trijicon

You can also get them super cheap on Deleon. I got the Osight SE for $129 there shipped + tax (just copy and paste the UPC in the check out coupon).

The Osight package is really nice too. Comes with extra set of screws for everything and a useful tool that can be used for other optics as well
