Railroad tracks off Split Mtn road is ideal and where I shoot. Miles long area along side the RR tracks, everyone shoots south, no crossfire. It can get crowded on weekends, I go during the week.

I also go Jeeping out there, it's like Saudi Arabia. There is a small store about 5 miles north off Split Mtn across from the Iron Door bar for post shooting refreshments.

Best before April when it gets hot. Also avoid windy days, it will take the paint off your car.

I’d be down to go shoot with some fellow OC’ers. Not sure where we’d go but we can try to coordinate. I’d also be down for SD shoots as well
Idk what the idea here is but when I go (I’m in OC as well) I usually go out near (not to) Hodge area out by Victorville. There’s tons of BLM land out there and it’s only about an hour from OC. That said; I’d be down to join, idk if I’d be willing to give up my spot, but I know a few spots out there I would be willing to give up for the benefit of the group…

I can’t blame you. I’m from LA but there’s BLM land right near my cousins house up in Kern but I’m hesitant to share it because some people leave shooting areas trashed

I'm in 100%. I shoot on BLM and forest land often by myself but it would be nice to meet other fellow gun enthusiasts. Oh, I have various AR 500 targets and stands that I can bring. I train my kids ages from 7-19 regular and I always emphasize safety. I'd like to see the same emphasis whenever we all get together. I'm in San Bernardino County but can meet in OC/LA

I went out to the tracks off Split mtn road in SD county today. I needed to zero a couple of scopes.
It was quiet when I got there after 9AM. No wind, hit 75 by 11 AM. Maybe 3 groups there when I left. Still some trash out there.
