Non gun parts used for guns

I am your (above?) average YouTube Certified gunsmith that finds himself in a quandary several times a year. I'll be working on a gun when suddenly, SPROING, a spring goes shooting across my garage, never to be seen again.
I've overpaid for gun springs more times than I'd like to admit. But now, several of my go-to guys won't ship to our beloved state.
So, it got me to thinking that several of y'all have probably found non gun stores where you have bought parts that work in your guns just fine. If so, please share where and what you have purchased said items. And maybe even share a link or two?
I, myself, am about to go searching McMaster-Carr for itty-bitty springs.
