New Mini 14, wanted one since I was a kid

Any experience with an adjustable gas block? I read Mini-14 are overgassed for reliability and it's part of the reason why the brass are throw 80 miles away.
Sorry man never owned one but built one in my mind and the accu strut sold me on the look

I had a mini...liked it but disliked the mags. Probably shouldn't have sold it but congrats! its a nice one.

I’ve got the A-Team inspired version Ruger came out with a couple of years ago. Neat looking rifle!!

I’ve also got a Mini-30 that, for whatever reason, I never got into. I’ll be selling it one of these days.

Not a Mini 14, but I picked up a MCX Regulator recently. I wanted a range toy that I did not have to deal with fixed mag vs featureless vs mag release. Swapped the stock to black and added a LVPO. I'm digging it. Great for lefties too.

Yes they are over gassed.
I have not used an adjustable gas block.
I do swap out the factory .080 gas bushing with a .050 bushing. A lot cheaper than the adjustable gas block. Also retorque the gas block to about 25 in lb. And evenly gap both sides.

Meh. Crazy expensive ruger mags only work. Aftermarket mags have never worked for me. AR is better in every conceivable way. Mini is ok though. Nothing to get excited about.

I'm looking for a mini 30. I'm selling some premium items I may be interested in trading on here, but also have a sale coming up.

The mags aren't "that" expensive. You can find them (ruger mags) for around 25$ , just gotta look around . Aint AR cheap but aren't sig p365 expensive .The rock and lock of the mags doesn't bother me , just like an AK. The pre 580 series sort of gave the Mini a bad name . The post 580 series are gtg. I think the biggest issue with the Minis is the lack of customizing , which is the reason people prefer ARs because you can "build" them.
For someone that wants a rifle that's plug in play and not have to worry about CA laws, the Ruger mini is for you .
I wouldn't mind getting another Ruger mini 30.

Just make sure to give anyone to your right a heads up before you start shooting! My old Mini flung brass about 15 yards! I regret selling it but it did t group that well and eventually I’ll get one of the newer ones that should hold a little tighter.

lol i have 4 ARs you debbie downer
The minis are far more accurate than the internet armchair commandos would have you believe. I’ve owned the old ones with the pencil barrel that shot very accurately as well.

I don't own a mini, but something about them has always intrigued me. Any planned accessories? Or just gonna run the irons and sling and call it a day?
iron sights on this. my ARs get all the fun optics

There is nothing wrong with the Mini mags.
They rock in the same as AK and M14.
They are not expensive, about $25
I have been shooting the Mini for about 35 years and all factory mags have been 100% reliable.

If I could get a mini for $600 new, sure. Otherwise, they dont do anything my ARs dont already do better without optic chinweld and proprietary mags.

Something about Minis that just screams cheap pot metal.

Where are real ruger mags $25? They are over $40 for a 10 rounder. Aftermarket mags dont work worth a crap in a Mini 14 you have to buy Ruger brand i speak from experience. They are not $25 anywhere. Especially in this state that no one will ship to. That is just flat out false. No store anywhere has Ruger brand mags for $25. $41.99 at Turners for a 10 round Ruger mag. After tax you are around $50 each. Send a link to your $25 mags. I call BS.

Where are Ruger mags $25? Nowhere. I’m throwing a fudd flag on that. They are over $40 before taxes.

Well aren't you Mr. Grumpy pants.
So I'm a few dollars off, haven't bought them in a few years. You might want to get a little more experience before you call BS and that my statement is flat out false.

That’s more than a few dollars. They are close to $50 after taxes. They haven't been $25 since the 90’s. Apologies if i came off as grumpy.
What experience do you speak of? I’ve had 3 mini 14’s over the years and the price of mags has been the main reason they get put on the chopping block. That being said i want another one again haha.

Sorry, not Mini experience.
I just meant shopping experience. Sometimes they offer free shipping.
Anyways, mag prices are higher than AR mags.
But that does not put me off, my Sig mags are $50 plus
I love the Mini platform, I almost never shoot my AR's, just have more fun with the Mini.
But then again, I'm a huge SKS fan as well.
