That actually makes sense, as silly as it may seem. I'm just waiting for the CC9.

HK released that they screwed the pooch on the USP thing by making slight changes.
The "Bear" version is just a CA specific sku so they know not to make any running changes on the gun and risk it getting yanked from the roster.

The updated California-compliant HK VP9A1 F, which is being referred to as the “Bear” model, introduces a cosmetic and compliance-driven change, not a functional one.

Due to California regulations, even standard manufacturing updates require a pistol to be treated as a new model. To meet these requirements, Heckler & Koch has added a California bear engraving to the frame as a unique identifying mark.

Outside of this marking, the pistol remains functionally identical to the previous VP9A1 F. Performance, features, and operation are unchanged.

As part of this update, the Bear model is assigned a new part number and appears as a separate listing on the California roster.

So what's the bottom line? This new part number is the same gun, offers the same performance, but just has updated markings and a new SKU to meet California compliance.“
