New Buckmark Contour

Picked up a Contour a few weeks ago.
Today was its first time out.
Trigger is way to heavy, so I'll have to address that at some point.
However, this thing is Awesome
Only had time to test a few kinds of ammo @ 10yds. off a sand bag.
Funny thing, I took this Red Dot off a rifle and it was almost dead center before any adjustments, just lucky I guess.

I had an older one (till I handed it down to a family member) that I probably shot 10's of thousands of rounds through and the trigger was like butter. Super light and super smooth.

Keep shooting it and it will get better.

Great shooting! Watch out for sluggish magazine followers and failures to feed when shooting a lot of Aguila in semi autos, I found in my personal experience that the lubricant is waxy and can build up in magazines and cause failures to feed. It got so bad in my Ruger MKIII that the magazine follower moved like molasses because of the built up residue. Took apart and cleaned my mags with mineral spirits, never shot aguila in that gun, and never had frequent FTFs again!

I think aguila makes a great cheap round for manually operated guns only, like levers, revolvers, bolt actions, or single shots.

Yes, my experience I am describing with Aguila 40 gr copper plated round nose.

Maybe I bought my aguila back when they were using an inferior lubricant. If you have no issues with your production lot of aguila then even better!

These are bulk packed, no lube.
New production.
However, these will not feed in my T1X bolt rifle.
It I can get one to feed through the mag, it will not chamber. I can not close the bolt.

Look up the spring flip to drop the pull weight on the trigger. I think mine is at 1lb, maybe 2lb. Can't remember.

Great little guns. Priced reasonably. I've done the "spring flip" trick to ours, and it helps. Also, the trigger gets better after a few thousand rounds (or maybe my finger gets stronger and I don't notice any more).

Disassembling and cleaning them is ... bad. I've heard horror stories that some of the Ruger Mark X guns might be even worse, but the Buckmark is certainly not easy. When taking off the "slide", be super careful that no little springs jump out, and don't lose the little plastic washers. If you are like me, call Brownell and order a 10-pack of both the little springs and the washers ahead of time. If someone volunteers to completely clean and shop-vac my shop, they can keep any springs and washers they find.

Mine is only reliable with normal power ammo (not with shorts or colibris), which is to be expected for a rimfire semi-auto. And then only if regularly cleaned and lubricated with a light gun oil. Something sticky (like Brian Enos slide glue grease) kills it.

This is the 3rd Buckmark I have had.
I always thought they were easy to clean, atleast the upper half.

Did the flip, super easy mod.
Trigger is now #2.5

Some people have trouble changing a tire and have to hire a roadside assistance company to do it for them.
These are the people unlikely to be able to field strip firearms.
The Buckmarks are more trouble to field strip and reassemble than any of the Ruger standard/ MK I/II/II models.
You have to use tools on the buckmark.
Ruger is done all with only your fingers.
Those people complaining about reassembly of their Ruger MK I/II/III are likely the type of people who pay a roadside assistance company to change their flat tires.

I can take apart and put a factory ruger mk I/II/III back together in less than a minute.
I can't change a tire on the side of the road that fast though.

I guess I have to practice cleaning the Buckmark more. Which means I have to practice shooting with it more. Which would be a good thing.
