My standard 9mm load is a 124 plated RN over 4 grains B.E. and a WSP. every 9mm I have had eats that stuff, even other Glocks. Not this gun, FTF, FTE, stovepipes and failed last round hold open. Does the same thing with the range ammo (115 grain RN). Lubes it up after 20 rounds of this nonsense and it’s still basically a single shot unless I straight arm it. This gun is for my 14 year old and he notices a huge difference over my regular G19 (both gen3) G19C ran fine 20 rounds with just swapping barrels.

Any advice?

Have you tried magazines that are not part of your rotation?

Just to verify you’re saying if you swap out the ported barrel for a regular one then it runs fine?

I have no idea what kind of velocity you’re getting from your reloads but when I shot USPSA a lot of folks used downloaded ammo and they needed downloaded recoil springs to make sure their pistols operated well. I suspect that may be your situation between the porting and the load.

If you put a weaker recoil spring in the gun make sure you swap back prior to firing full power or plus p ammo or you’re gonna end up dinging up your locking block.

yes, just the barrel swap and it ran fine (ported slide recoil spring and guide) I wanted to just isolate that. I don's see my chrono numbers in my log for this load but I would suspect 1,050FPS. we made some 4.4 grain BE loads I was going to try in the morning. I'll bring my labradar and see what it does.

I am thinking about changing springs but I'm always cautious when modifying a gun I didn't build. if stock is 18 pounds, i think perhaps 16 pound spring. any ideas on where to buy quality springs?

We brought 6 magazines. G19 ran like a champ on all of them, G19C was a single shot with all 6 mags.
Damn I hope it's just a simple fix. Can the 19C take P+ ammo? If it can I'd try that first to see. Also, what about lubrication on all the rails? Possibly new gun has more friction and that may prevent it from cycling properly? We're just trying to eliminate all the simple things first.

It seems common to reduce recoil spring weight by 2-4lbs when switching from a non-compensated barrel to a compensated barrel in a locked-breech semi-auto pistol.
Get an aftermarket guide rod and a Wolf recoil spring tuning set so you can swap springs easily.

Wolf was going to be my recommendation as well.

Well, I found a Wolff 14 pound spring + guid rod on eBay, also a 16 pound spring.

We did load some hotter 9mm 4.4 grains bullseye under a 124 grain Barry’s plated and the G19C ran great. 50 round 0 stoppages.

4.4 gn BE

G19C 1,045.8 FPS
G19. 1,068.8 FPS

23FPS lost to compensator

4.0 BE

G19C 964.6 FPS
G19. 1,021.5 FPS

56.9 FPS lost to compensator

I’m starting to think perhaps the smaller load isn’t fully expanding the brass. Typically, you would see the brass be filthy, at least with .45ACP and .357/.38 that happens with powder puff loads. The brass looked bout the same on the FTE G19C

19C likes hotter ammo like the Winchester 124 Nato or Winchester white box 115 grain when new. Your problem is the 18lb spring that comes stock with them. Try a 15lb spring from the glockstore (guide rod) (fairly cheap and fast shipping). Then run about 100 Nato rounds and it will be a all set. Rack and oil it. After the 15lb guide rod swap and a 100 rounds, it will be 100% fail free for years to come.

Run some warmer loads of 124-147 though it. Between the G19 and G19C I notice about 50fps on hand loads typically. Once broken in the G19C should have no issue and need no other springs to run like a top. If you feel the need to run light loads then Wolff guide rod and springs would be my choice.

This puts you at a really low PF. Definitely drop the recoil spring down to 13lb. Mine are at 124 gr 1040 FPS ~130 PF. no issues in G19 w. radian ramjet with a 13lb NZ recoil spring with zev duty slide and holosun 507c2

Welp, the kid turned 15 on Sunday. We’d been messing with this G19C a for a few weeks for him. Ended up with a Wolff guidrod and a 14# spring on the factory slide and it runs like a champ. We also put this slide pretty together with a green dot and extended ported barrel. Had it zeroed and tested in time for his first USPSA match on his last day of being 14. He had a lot of fun :)

I had the same issue with my 19C. I took 1000 grit to the bottom of the slide for a quick deburr and polished the feed ramp. Problems went away. I was malfunctioning every 1-2 shot prior to

Do you tapper crimp your reloads? A heavy TC seems to have solved my problems with 45ACP loads in Kimbers
It must be a taper crimp, and I don’t like to overwork my brass so it’s not a heavy crimp but it’s not a lite crimp either, about medium.

Looks like I can t get PF with the the 115’s I bought. Number, I got like 4K of them≥. Lighter Wolff spring solved the issue.
