Question Monterey County?

starting a thread here about Monterey County. Just relocated to a spot JUST inside the county...literally a mile from the line and 10 miles from the nearest town, so i fall into MCSO jurisdiction.
Does anyone have experience as a new resident with a prior CCW in good standing in another conty?

I'm in the county next door. Monterey SO has a good rep and doesn't take forever to issue, answers questions and is generally supportive, no goofy stuff on your app or in policy.

Plus you have a range at Laguna Seca Raceway, just be sure to check the online schedule for races. They surprised a few of us by closing last month for Pro races when their calendar online said some days were open for blasting. Four of us squinting to read the 3x5 card taped to the gate at 8am is how we found out, a wasted 80-mile round trip (in traffic) for me. I'll be calling a day or two ahead from now on and not trusting the webpage.

There are three good CCW instructors- one down by King City, one in Paicines, and another based in Scotts Valley/range in Morgan Hill. If you hear of a range called "Markley's" in Watsonville- fergetabout it, they've been closed for >5 years.

Thanks. im extreme south county. I have limitless space to shoot, so ranges are definitely not my problem. I have good access to the training community as well.

the SO was the real wild card.

Monterey county is top tier, I had mine with them before Bruen was a thing and it was super easy, even when I moved they were super helpful with sending info to my new issuing agency to try and help out. I remember submitting a renewal with them 30 days from expiration and it got approved same day. Couldn’t hurt to call them and see if they will expedite you since you have an existing one
