CCW Magazine Capacity for CCW

Then you always have to wear a belt. Again. To each their own. Shrug. You gotta decide what compromises are ok for you. For me living with 5-10 rounds or so typically is fine. For you and others presumably you are going 15-17 and imma guess an extra mag somewhere. On that note. It’s easier to stash an extra mag somewhere than have a heavier firearm IMO
Yes, this is absolutely true + the correct answer. Everyone needs to decide for themselves.

I’m not trying to look down on anybody’s CCW choices. Just hope that everybody has *really* thought it through very carefully.

Someone mentioned penal code 3210(C): https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?lawCode=PEN§ionNum=32310.
If you don’t think your life is worth more than a POSSIBLE $100 fine, well… that’s your decision to make….

, I’ve never heard of any CCW permit that specifically calls out magazine / firearm ammo capacity. Not to say it doesn’t exist, but I’ve never heard of one & I’m 99% sure mine doesn’t say anything about it either. I will definitely go & double check, but again the point stands; if nothing at all in your ….terms & conditions?….of your CCW say anything about mag capacity, then its purely a judgement call for each individual to make.
pretty sure the penal code itself was cited above. I would venture personally that given the potential risk, would rather NOT use "freedom mags" and would rather figure out where to stick an extra mag. and I would be more worried that it would void out any sort of "insurance" etc. the $100 fine probably isnt what im worried about. it's the cascade of "carrying illegally blah blah. blah"

gotcha on the belt. Man… I’d love to have a job (or not!) where I can wear pants that don’t require a belt, all day! :D

As for your comment about fallujah; eh…. With what’s been going on the past several years - particularly the 2020 summer of love / 👨🏻‍🎨t coup / color revolution; I have chosen to go with a lot more options vs. less.
Again; i’ve still never heard of anyone who’s been in any sort of gun fight (esp. combat) who wishes they’d brought LESS ammo…
Look at what happened in Black Hawk Down (extreme example, but still); lots of those soldiers left behind food, water, ammo, body armor, to reduce weight & make themselves more comfortable.
Each & every single one of them regretted it - those who lived to regret it….

you live a life where a tactical belt "fits". I dont. frankly would look odd and weird for most of my life. again to each their own.

Again, not attacking you nor your choices just trying to understand; did you say your issuing authority Is Beverly Hills Police Department?

First off; How is Axel Foley doing? Say hi to that crazy summotherless 🐐!

And next: Hasn’t there been a huge increase in multiple criminals assaulting + mugging people in Broad daylight? I heard they are even targeting people with fancy watches, jewelry and cars, following them home to rob them?
Again, my understanding / what I’ve seen is it’s usually always *multiple suspects,* hence the need to carry more ammo….
Maybe I’m wrong?

lol Axel. the first movie was so good.

the one really sensational thing that happened was some dude was wearing a 250k watch MB&F or Richard Mille or something and they did a snatch and grab/run. granted those things are so damn big it's like a tricorder on your wrist and relatively easy to one notice, two grab. it was definitely broad daylight and right off of rodeo which was why it was so sensational.

there were some following people to their homes up in the Hollywood hills to my understanding. to be honest. it's pretty sedate in actual Beverly Hills overall. I walk to work tho into West Hollywood and there was a major homeless problem on the border of West Hollywood/LA/Beverly Hills. basically no jurisdiction taking responsibility. it was very sketchy. right in that one area. it's since been cleaned up since that court ruling tho so overall these days I mostly carry to be comforted. so I would rather be comfortable?

OR a misdemeanor OR one year in jail OR possibly losing your CCW. It's very likely your Freedom Week mags would be confiscated and possibly your gun. I would love to have more than 11 rounds but I can drop a mag and slam another in a heartbeat. Most counties have a CCW provision if it's illegal in California, which Freedom Week "high capacity" mags currently are, it's not allowed.

I struggle to understand how self-described "law abiding" citizens want to justify breaking the law based on their personal opinion of the legitimacy of the law itself, and how it might affect them. That logic doesn't hold, we don't get to pick & choose which are the "good laws" and which aren't. Shoplifters will say they can't afford it and prices are too high. Take that argument to the extreme and we have a lawless society - it doesn't work. Sure, break all the laws you want but at least be honest about what you are doing, don't advocate others do it and make excuses. I don't agree with these magazine bans anymore than anyone else, but until the court challenges are resolved and changes made, I will follow the laws while working hard to get them overturned legally.

(c) Except as provided in Article 2 (commencing with Section 32400) of this chapter and in Chapter 1 (commencing with Section 17700) of Division 2 of Title 2, commencing July 1, 2017, any person in this state who possesses any large-capacity magazine, regardless of the date the magazine was acquired, is guilty of an infraction punishable by a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100) per large-capacity magazine, or is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100) per large-capacity magazine, by imprisonment in a county jail not to exceed one year, or by both that fine and imprisonment.

This is quite interesting to me that SB would limit to 10
This is from the San Bernardino Sheriffs website for CCW. Sure makes it challenging if you carry into another county having to see what their rules are.

Comparing my life to a LEO life seems legitimate…. Why is any LE life more important than mine or my family’s? Are they not dealing with the exact same person that any CCW holder might be dealing with? Give them an inch and they’ll take a mile! Your mentality is what has led to magazine bans. My life is just as important as any person. If 2 extra rounds means I’m walking away alive, so be it! My life is more important than some liberal law maker saying an arbitrary number of rounds in my mag is legal or not.
It's not that their life is more "legitimate", it is that they knowingly, intentionally, and willingly walk into threat scenarios with far greater risk than ordinary citizens, thus they have an actual, proven need for higher capacity mags. Also, they don't have to abide by the proportional force and need to retreat laws when the bullets fly like we do.
Actually it's your mentality that has led to more restrictive gun laws and is counter-productive to 2A rights. People who advocate breaking laws they don't like are what's known as "criminals". It's the militant, hard-line attitude and political scapegoating that scares the average citizen.

I suppose you also drive the speed limit at all times? And never use your cell phone while driving.

FWIW I’m not advocating breaking the law, but playing devil’s advocate. We are talking mostly add-on charges, in which case the mag cap is probably the least of your worries. I’d venture to say in CA every person more than likely breaks the law in some fashion at least one time a week. In what fashion varies between each of us. Hell, our company vehicles with GPS don’t ping our employer till 8+ mph over speed limit. Much like most of our employees, most people fail to recognize they’re entering a 25mph school zone

LOL 👍🏻 I suppose you’d bring a knife to a gunfight if Daddy Newscum/Bonta told you that’s all you could take? I’m not advocating for breaking the law, but I don’t find any fault for anyone who decides to willingly carry what our enemies our carrying. Afterall, we all know criminals don’t follow, nor care, any laws. In which is the exact reason law enforcement carries what they carry.

Sorry bro, your logic just doesn't add up, I can argue for all kinds of things criminals do and that I should be able to do them to, makes zero sense. Your mocking attitude and name-calling is immature and not constructive.

And nor does yours to me.. we can agree to disagree. I didn’t name call at all, and if I did, sorry you took offense to it. We stand on a different ground on this matter, and that is fine. We can both agree that we’ll both move along living our happy lives, carrying on. We are brothers with two different opinions. No reason this topic can’t have opposing views

Probably a stupid question i am sure.

If i have regular capacity magazines (greater than 10 rounds) that i purchased legally. (I.e. freedom week, etc.) Can i carry these in my EDC CCW.

FWIW I recently did a CCW modification and asked the deputy at the Kern County sheriff's office while i was picking up and he told me 'only standard capacity'. When i questioned if that meant standard like 15 or 17 rounds he said 'no 6 or 7 rounds'. So yeah... not much help there.

Thanks!
To go back to the original topic, as other have stated here, check with YOUR issuing agency (IA). You mentioned Kern County, which is its own sheriff (NOT LASD) and a simple Google search didn’t show any information about magazine round limit.

Call and ask to clarify what the limits are. Some issuing agencies are more transparent than others.

For example, I am LAPD and they don’t have a magazine round limit but I’m not going to have a 50 round drum mag (hard to conceal that) 🤣.

This is the agreement you must sign for a CCW in Kern County, it clearly states you must agree to not violate any state, federal or local law, statute, or ordinance. That would make Freedom Week mags a no-no at the present time.

Only the first?? No love for BH Cop 2?? 3 was… eh… and the new one… big missed opportunity, IMO…. LOL.
Anyway; hey, sounds like you’ve assessed your situation & you are acting accordingly, so that’s all any of us can really do.
Glad to hear it’s not quite as awful / frequent as the media has made it sound.
Still; if I had any nice cars / watches / jewelry down there, I’d be extra cautious….sounds like these people had their heads pretty far up their rears to not realize they were being watched / stalked & followed??? I don’t understand how you miss that….. IDK….

A) I never described myself as a law-abiding citizen. In fact, I somewhat take offense to being labeled as such.

B) GOOD citizens don’t mindlessly, brainlessly obey every single law that’s passed, just because. I guess you would have told Rosa to keep her ass in the back of the bus? Why did she HAVE TO sit in the front, after all? It was the law…. Same with segregation…. ‘‘Twas THE LAW….
Slavery used to be perfectly legal.

I hope you see where I’m going with this. Just because it’s legal, doesn’t in any way make it CONSTITUTIONAL, nor morally / ethically good / right / just / correct.

And you’ve got a pretty twisted worldview when you take someone like me - who’s got a family to defend - taking extremely pragmatic & reasonable steps to defend them & my life - and comparing me to some anarchist shoplifting thug. What’s next; you gonna accuse me of rioting too?:ROFLMAO:

Also; would you be willing to have someone follow you around for a full week, recording constantly, 24x7, to ENSURE you aren’t breaking one single little law? Because you damn well better practice what you preach…. You have never exceeded the speed limit; even for a moment, and even by accident?
You NEVER touch your phone while driving, right? God only knows what other myriad bull💩 laws are out there that we prob all break on a regular basis without even knowing it.

I suppose you also drive the speed limit at all times? And never use your cell phone while driving.

here again, you’ve so succinctly stated the point I was trying to lead people to (I gotta stop doing that; I hate it when people do that to me LOL);
If you are involved in a self-defense shooting, the absolute LEAST of your worries will be magazine capacity & similar crap.
I view it as something the DA could tack on, but only if you are likely unjustified, or appear that way.
Magazine capacity isn’t going to make nor break any legit self defense shooting.

I’d be curious if there’s any legal precedent for this one way or the other….

Ahhh…. Ok, I’m getting a picture of who you are now. So non-LEO citizens (LEO ARE civilians; only military are not civilians) shouldn’t be allowed to own or carry AR15s, because they don’t NEED them - in your little opinion.
We shouldn’t carry standard capacity magazines & instead should carry abominations that have been physically tampered with to REDUCE functionality, because you don’t think we NEED them.
You’re the same type who says people should be required to get training before they can exercise any of their rights & then keeps increasing the tests / requirements before they can do so.

You are turning RIGHTS into PRIVILIGES.
That’s not how this country works, my friend.

And you have it backwards; POLICE have to adhere to the use of force continuum; citizens / CCW don’t. You DO have to show that you were actually in fear of your life, or grave bodily harm, before using a firearm, but citizens are in no way required to use proportional force.
Your knowledge of the law isn’t’ quite as grand as you’re making it out to be….

Sorry bro, your logic just doesn't add up, I can argue for all kinds of things criminals do and that I should be able to do them to, makes zero sense. Your mocking attitude and name-calling is immature and not constructive.
I really don’t know why I am engaging with this, but I guess I just this is a train wreck that I can’t look away from;

Exactly and specifically what sorts of things that criminals do, do you think the general public should be able to do?

Are you the same user from CaLGuns?
I don’t remember you being so…. Deluded…. Respectfully.

I will make another (prob. provocative) response here. Cops get exempted from the vast majority of California gun control laws, because their unions support the said laws. Not only active-duty, but also off-duty and retired cops get a break. Any comments?
