M9/92FS Hammer Spring Stuck

I have no idea how I managed this but when swapping the hammer spring, somehow while trying to compress the spring it got off of the strut and it's stuck inside the gun, like something inside is grabbing onto it and I can't get it to free up with picks. I noticed it was wrong because it takes way too much force to try to compress the lanyard loop back in and then I saw somehow the strut is next to the coils instead of inside. What is happening and how do you get the spring to come back out?

Looks like the hammer strut is pinched between the frame and the hammer strut spring.

Did that once a long time ago. I removed grips, pushed the hammer pin out, pulled hammer along with hammer strut out the top of frame and spring fell out on its own.

I don’t know how I did it but after just messing with the spring and picks and moving the hammer back and forth for like the last hour it finally popped free and luckily the spring isn’t damaged. Hallelujah thanks

I was like great I finally did something dumb enough to break a gun lol. Just pushed it down in hard on a table and the pin popped right back in! #14 lb WC spring made the trigger feel awesome

Wait till you try LTT TJIAB and a 12lb hammer spring. 5.5 lb DA/3 lb DA and 100% reliable with CCI or Federal ammo. Shot several thousand rounds with this set up. Trigger feels amazingly smooth for a DA/SA pistol and also a short reset.

TJIAB? I did a 14 lb spring because I don't want to have to worry about light strikes ever. It feels at least as light as my P226 now if not even lighter.

If you don't want to remove the hammer AND don't care if you might need to replace the spring. Use needle nose pliers and pull the spring out.
Not the way I would do it but a easy fix.

I jammed a plastic pick into the spring and wiggled it and pulled and luckily it came out undamaged

I’d first try grabbing one side of the spring with needle nose pliers and unscrewing it. Pulling on it would likely damage it.

You can also smooth out the stock parts by polishing and you'll have a smoother trigger than what you have now. Won't be as nice as the TJIAB but an improvement nonetheless. 14lb hammer spring is the lightest I would use with a stock hammer but an Elite hammer would further improve reliability. Started with 14 and got all the way down to 12lb with the LTT parts.

Just need a dremel with a buffing wheel and Flitz. Go slow and polish the hammer hooks, sear engagenent surface and the hammer end of the strut. There's good info on BerettaForum.net on how to do this.
