My instructor said anything to the gun needs to go through an amendment, requal. For any IA. But on these forums I see the opposite. I am now under the assumption my instructor wants to watch his back as much as possible if something does ever happen. Also, on the CCW card it does not state any note whether pistol has optic or light. Which further makes me believe LAPD does not care if we add optic or light. Especially is slide is mos ready.
Your instructor is wrong, time for a new instructor. If he's going to make statements of fact, he should bother to read the FAQ on the LAPD CCW page:
