LAPD CCW - modifying guns on permit

Your instructor is wrong, time for a new instructor. If he's going to make statements of fact, he should bother to read the FAQ on the LAPD CCW page:

"Can I make modifications to my firearms?

Some sight and light attachments are allowed but no illegal modifications to firearms are permitted. Check with current California Firearm laws to verify the legal status of your firearm."

Either your instructor is scamming you trying to make extra money on requals or he is not intelligent. Get a new instructor that can read and understand basic concepts
 
lmao let's just say I wouldn't refer them nor talk bad about them. Like I said, they prob just want to cover their ass with ANYTHING. Was just thrown off guard with that. Since I can order optic and light through Amazon.
 
Wow! That makes him even worse. Quoting laws he made up. 😂 I’m guessing all his other training and advice is 💯 reliable and correct though so nothing to worry about.

He's probably also very upset that LAPD is telling you its ok to break the law right on their website. 🙄
 
There's a difference between covering your ass and spreading misinformation. You can do both effectively but doing one or the other isn't ideal.

I would actually inform people to not take his courses as he is clearly misinforming something simple to paying customers who are entrusting that his information is accurate
 
Meet my CCW instructor at the range on 7/13 to qualify a new gun.

Went online to the LAPD Permitium portal the evening of 7/13 and filled out the change form, uploaded my new documents, and paid the fee.

7/31 received notification the change had been approved.

Received my revised CCW in the mail on 08/07.
