Just paid for an M&P 2.0 full sized aluminum and Bodyguard carry comp. Which optics

LCI will interfere with the optic cut on the bodyguard. Look at the extractor roll pin in relation to the cut on a milled slide, and then look at lci in relation to the roll pin on a CA version slide.

I shot irons only for a while before adding a red dot to one of my guns. Now I find myself rarely shooting my guns that don’t have dots. I forget what it’s called, but I have an eye condition where my eyes don’t focus on the same point. I can’t shoot irons only with both eyes open because of it. A dot was a game changer for me, so I will absolutely be getting a dot on my BG when I get it. Because of the lci interfering I’m going to pick up a 2nd slide to have milled by Defiant Machine Works. Shield makes the rmssc and omssc optics that are the same width as the BG slide. A few people have used them. They’re not cheap, but you can often find them for sub $300. I hope it works for me since it fits the BG so well.

Looks like defiant machine works can do it without interfering woth the LCI, extractor or anything else. They have to remove the dovetail to get the optic cut far enough back to not interfere

I have astigmatism, but that's not what it is. My astigmatism is what concerns me with the Shield optics. So far the only brands I've tried, out of 5 or 6, that are clear for me are Sig Romeo X and Trijicon. Someone else posted it's called strabismus. I have a very mild form of it, but it causes issues when I'm shooting irons with both eyes open. Zero issues with a dot.

Maybe there's enough room to shorten the lci, but it's not fitting without the lci being removed or modified.

Looking at it again, you're right. The LCI is further back then the roll pin. And the cut is right at the edge of the pin.

They can’t/don’t. I think the topic came up when I was placing my order for my optic cut on my carry comp. Ethan confirmed they can’t do it with the CA model with the LCI.

For the M&P 2.0 aluminum framed one, I want to try and avoid optic plates. Looks like the only real option is the holosun scs mp2. I guess there is one from C&H. Is this still the case. It seems like there hasn't been anything else added to the market since the 2.0 was introduced. I'm not really liking the window size of the holosun scs mp2 and really want something like the SRO but direct mount. Should I give in and use the optic plates or is the holosun scs mp2 not that bad and should just stick with it.

And there is the bodyguard. Not cut for optics from what I can tell. Thinking out sending the slide out to get it cut. But being that the bodyguard is so slim, looks like even the RMSc is thicker then the slide and optics stick out on both side. What's everyone's opinion on this? Should I get it cut or leave it stock? Might add this to my CCW list. But mostly got it so my GF has something she can shoot when we are at the range.

Both are still in shipments to the LGS. Then they go to jail. Was planning on trying to get at least an optic for the M&P metal while I wait.

About the 2.0, does your IA allow aftermarket plates or modifications? Do they allow removal of LCI? Do you plan on keeping the Oem slide or swapping it out for the carry comp slide kit?

If you plan on using the aftermarket plates, but not swapping to carry comp slide kit, and plan on keeping the LcI in the Oem slide; the calculated kinetics Holosun 509t plate is marketed as working with the LcI. Their other plates are not marketed as working with the LcI; so you need to remove the LCI.

I’m not really a plate guy either. I prefer direct mount. However, I can say calculated kinetics makes nice metal plates for aftermarket plates. Their plates have this extra hump in the front; supposedly it’s suppose to help with minimizing carbon on the optic.

I installed the DPP plate for vortex defender XL on the carry comp slide.

They are good company; and the owner is good people. He has went above and beyond. Besides that, when I ordered the defender XL plate, they forgot to include the screws for the defender XL in the package, it only had screws for the actual DPP optic by leupold; and they sent it out right away.

The Gideon Pebble is about as good as it gets I feel like for a low effort optic option on the CA models. Otherwise a slide swap and direct mill from Defiant for a direct optic mounting solution is pretty nifty.

At least as far as optics, grips, I think even slides, etc. I see no were any list or mention of restrictions other then some calibers and rifle style pistols. And of course the stupid 3 gun on the license and 2 on person restrictions

I'm not familiar with the Defender XL. I'll have to look into that.

Defender XL might be a little wide for carry; same with Holosun 507 COMP .

If you want a competition size window optic for carry; SRO would not be a bad compromise.

I don't really plan on CCWing the M&P metal. Maybe OSWB where allowed. Private property, target practice, hunting, free states, etc. or if I ever get into competition. So a good large window would be nice. SRO would be my first choice but uses plates. Otherwise I may just go with the holosun scs mp2. If I go with plates, I'm open to other options

For the bodyguard, I will likely CCW this one, the smallest optic available which I believe is the RMSc style. And even those look to large to not interfere woth the LCI. So I might keep it irons only
