it took a long time, perhaps half an hour of cutting.

Note that there are also different grades of steel

Two 3' cuts to give us a square cover done in under 5 minutes. Maybe the plate was mild steel, but that blade cuts fast. I'm guessing a good safe would use carbon steel, right?

When I said prying I meant the effort it took for them to expose the side of the safe like that. You shouldn't be able to get to the side of the safe like that easily.

Or cut the front, or cut a triangle on the top....

I have 4800lb TL30 safe. It’s 6” thick with 1/2 steel on the outside, 1/4 on the inside and the insulation is 5 1/4” of a concrete, steel chunks and steel cable matrix designed to break blades. My view is if they can get in it, they earned it.
