Maybe a dumb question, but somehow it's never quite made sense to me. When searching for people willing to trade, what does "I know what I got" supposedly mean? I know what I got... so I'll only accept a fair trade? I know what I got so... cash only? It just doesn't seem to clarify the question I have which is, will this person be interested in a trade offer?

I always took it as a response akin to "don't try to lowball me, I know what I have and what it's worth value wise". What it has come to mean in at least the 2A secondary market and lots of enthusiast markets seems to be more similar to "don't try to offer me less than I think what I have is worth ... even if I'm wildly uninformed or have unrealistic expectations for the sale price of said item".

The same kind of people who do the whole "1 of 1" with their corvettes or 911 builds lol.

Edit: I didn't see this was in the site feedback section. While I stand by my characterization of what that usually means/who usually says it, in the case of classified ads, I think it's just like the body armor choice - it's a tongue-in-cheek humorous option that doesn't mean much different than the actual serious options near the top for yes, no, etc.

It's that simple, it means that a buyer shouldn't try to lowball, swindle, snooker, or snow the seller because they're an educated seller and know the value of the item in question.

It means the seller is asking twice as much because he sporterized and added value to "one of the Eagles nest Mausers" that has electro pencil on the bolt. It only makes sense, so you should buy it now before you never see it again.

It’s really just a joke to poke fun at those folks. There’s no real meaning behind it, but I’m sure there’s a few people who actually put some meaning behind it if anything it just means they aren’t really flexible on the price and more than likely they want some advantage in a trade or at least the value that they’re showing

$1500? You must not have seen the dude who wants $2500 for his stock G26.3 or another guy who understands it's unlikely to happen, but still is asking $3,700 for his customized G17.

Over time the free market may change his opinion. The firearms secondary market is also relatively soft right now unless you're selling stuff on the relatively cheap end or the far high end like high end 2011s.

I bet you didn’t think you’d get so many definitions… it’s a meme in itself… we have quite a few things like that, same with the body armor reference.

Fair is relative, it could be a collector piece, a rare item, discontinued, etc. the joke you’ll see over time is when someone is selling a Glock, CZ for like 2x-3x because it’s gucci not realizing they’re in 2011 territory.

Anyhow it was a good thing to bring up! People have PTSD with the body armor, low ballers, ghost. Members will get triggered.
