How Private are Y'all with your CCW?

Last trip to the DMV, there were people flunking the WRITTEN test, even after being allowed plenty of time (like 3-4x longer than I took for my renewal!) to take it. I can only imagine how they are behind the wheel... Then again there was the "driving instructor" who completely made up nonexistent law in order to flunk one of my kids. I raised h*ll and he passed the next day with flying colors. As a society we have gone far past the point of "too many laws/rules", and have too many administrative morons making crap up because they got a job with a little "power" when they shouldnt have been granted authority beyond "would you like fries with that?". Balance is hard.

The only thing I'd say is that in the early days of this country, if you were a crap shot or your gun was "off" and you didn't fix it, your family probably didn't enjoy the vegan lifestyle forced upon them. "Standards" determined whether your kin ate or not, whether they survived that cougar attack or not, etc...

It seems like some areas are beginning to realize that having gun safety instruction as a practical part of a well rounded education might actually not be a bad idea. Knowledge is power, and knowing both the risks and rewards of firearms ownership should instill a level of responsibility that has been long forgotten. Far better than the irrational fear, victim mindset so much of the population exhibits when firearms enter the conversation!

And in closing... yep, I am glad to see ya... <wink>

I understand. I'm passing on all slippery slopes... Let's get CCW established as a national standard for a couple years, then if indicated by need- go back with rules/standards. First order of that business; no more than three rules.
Currently, there are only 2 rules:
Rule 1. There are no rules.
Rule 2. See Rule 1.

Due to the nature of my business (my own law firm and always looking for leads), I'm public about this. Also, some of the law firm marketing is for our CCW legal plan, so it makes sense to say I'm the owner, and also a client.

I get that. However, when qualification targets start looking like shotguns were used, I start leaning towards a mandatory training course.

This one was "Take all the time you want" from within 2-7 yds.

And Yes,,,, I have seen qual. Targets look just like That !!!!
Was that from a 20 or 16 gauge ???????
Really Scary .... That a person that shoots like that can be allowed to carry in public
Will they have the needed mindset to know How and when to use a firearm
How well do they maintain their weapon ????
Is the ammo so old , the cardboard box is deteriorating......

Only to the ones I trust. Could be family or friends.

My close friends know I carry. The ones who also carry knows because we talked about it. The ones who don't carry need to understand that because I do carry, I will de-escalate in every possible way I can even if that means I let people walk all over me (figuratively speaking). They also need to know if they chose to escalate a situation there's a good chance I will not have their backs because the stakes are different.

As is often said in online forums, 1000% this.

When it comes to family, friends, or folks at Church, how do you all decide to disclose that you CCW? If you share the fact with anyone at all?

Personally, it is only immediate family, friends, and anyone who does a PPT with me because I use my permit for both the FSC (firearm safety certificate) and proof of residency.

Only my immediate family, close friend, couple co-workers, fellow RSO’s, range buddies, some I’ve met on here and calguns, and gun stores I’ve used it for dros; these are all people that can understand.

For anyone else, concealed is concealed; none of your business.

No surprise ex-calguns members think constitutional rights should be gate-kept.

Reason I got banned off calguns. I argued against gate-keepers.

When you lived in a oppressive state for so long, guess they feel right to express such liberal views.

Yup. That is what the turd is for.
Hopefully that’s moved out of the way soon so folks who don’t have a ccw permit, has an expensive IA and doesn’t feel like it’s worth it, or etc.; are able to carry. However, hope they are investing in a quality OWB holster.

I think DOJ had an idea that there would be a situation like the most recent ammo freedom week.
