Yeah I can’t wrap my head around a bunch of different pistols. I can see having a backup of my 2 carry pistols, in the exact configuration. But even at that, what are the chances both of my CCW pistols go down at the exact time. And if I’m involved in a shoot, my carry guns are least of my worries. I’d rather focus on being proficient with my 2 carry guns.
Living out of state really changed my perspective on a lot of gun related things. The fact there aren't a ton of restrictions in Arizona on guns let me optimize for what best fit me. I used to have a fairly large collection of guns when I was in California. I ended up selling most of them but a few items and my NFA stuff which is still stored out of state. Prior to my first move to Arizona I had a permit from Stanislaus County and was restricted on number of guns I could carry but after moving and living in Arizona it just seemed unnecessary to carry more than one. Without California legislative infringement of our rights my mindset and outlook on guns just changed. There was no taboo or restriction, it was just another "thing". I wish everyone in California could experience the same thing in their lives at some point. Heck, you technically didn't even need a concealed carry permit in Arizona. It's just a nice to have that lets you skip a NICS check when you buy a gun from a dealer and few other extra perks.

Good example of a scenario where more than 2 would be nice!

Side note: what have you done to your SP-01? Mine is full Cajun internals and converted to SAO with a Holosun 507k on top of it. The thing is pretty darn close to a 1911 trigger. Only thing I need to do is get a Magwell on it, but I somehow always find another way to spend the funds for that… usually goes towards 2011s ❤️

I sold my Cajunized P-01 earlier this year as it had been sitting collecting dust for too long. Helped fund my Platypus, but I did love my CZs for a while. They’ve just ultimately lost out to my love of the 2011 platform
I went through a few sets of LOK grips before I put a Palmswell on the left and Thin on the right side, both Bogie texture. My carry P-01 has the same set up, but Bogie Palmswell on left and Matrix thin on the right.

On the SP-01 I had a buddy who is a gunsmith polish the internals, install the race hammer, 85 trigger, extended firing pin, associated lighter springs ... pretty much the pro package with the exception that he took a CZC Shadow 2 disconnector and custom fit it to make it have no reset. That was a bit much for me, so he made it have a reset. I've gone back and forth between the SRK from Cajun and his disconnector. I got hammer follow until I put a heavier hammer spring in. I did also add the heavier safety spring because I was flicking the safety on during reloads on the move. I changed the sights out to the a blacked out rear and Fiber Optic front from CZ Custom. I'm a budget shooter and busy as hell. Once I get to my goal shooting wise, I'll think about changing to a Shadow 2, but right now , there is no shortcoming I can blame on the gun. It's my lack of skill.

As for carry guns, I have taken classes with and competed with my P-01 and put more than 10,000 rounds through it. I would never put a gun on my permit that I haven't trained extensively with. It's really hard to train with more than one pistol. I put the P-01 aside to train with the P365 XL with a Wilson Combat grip. Love to carry it and it's not as fast as the P-01 but it works very well. It takes more effort to do controlled pairs but reloading is much easier than with the Sig grip module. The ergonomics are subjectively better for me. I have a Glock 19 on my permit, but don't shoot it that much. I've only got a little over 1,000 rounds through it and haven't taken classes or competed with it. It feels unnatural in my hands. I'm not sure why.

If you own 10 pistols and you have no limit on carry guns, put them all on your license. In CA that could keep you out of jail if you end up going to the range and leave ammo loaded in magazines or run afoul of another asinine law.

Stupid CA law brings up another thought for me. My understanding is that you can’t even take a light off if you qualified with it on, and vice versa. Without trying to debate whether a light on a carry gun is good or not, you should still have the choice. Only way in ca is to have one with it and without. Same thing with a red dot.

Semantics again…. Look, it’s your choice to interpret the law the way you’d like. I, on the other hand, think that is asinine. What’s next? You can only shoot with your left eye, because that’s how you qualified? We are policing ourselves to death!

I’m sure criminals are worried about all the same things as well!

Actually I recalled incorrectly, I follow this rule because my IA has this as part of their restrictions, I am unaware if there is law against it.

They specifically quote down to optics and lights? Or do they state “alterations?” So if you lose your front sight somehow, you’re going to requalify with a new front sight? Of your grip tape starts falling off, are you going to requalify with new grip tape?

I qualified with my 365 stock. When I qualified with my 365 w/ red dot 2 years later, nothing on my paperwork or license showed whether my pistol had a red dot or didn’t. Who would ever know the difference?!

Again, everyone is so damn worried about the tiniest details of this stuff. We police ourselves so hard that people start asking issuing agencies for clarification which ultimately lead to more rules put out by the agency. If you’re not legitimately breaking the law, move along. Loose lips sink ships! Most of us are already in the top tier of citizens, you really think a flashlight is going to break that, if it doesn’t specifically say it in the guidelines?! Guess what, it doesn’t say you can’t either!

We’re over here worried about flashlights and sights, while the criminals are loading up with Glock switches…. Sounds kind of dumb when you think about it that way, right?

And @Ron Swanson I don’t mean this post to attack you in any way. This is for general purpose discussion, please don’t take it to heart!

I’m not taking anything personally but thanks.

So they call them attachments. My training certificate says red dot and light on it for ones that have those. From the questions I asked my qualifier, it seems like these are the only things considered attachments. The exact reason you mentioned about asking my IA questions is why I rely on my qualifier, don’t want additional rules to be written because of things I ask. So I rely on my qualifier. Grips and sights aren’t considered attachments. Even the ramjet wasn’t considered something to document. So while I was mistaken at first when I recalled this rule as a law, what I don’t want to do is give the IA any reason to deny or pull my permit, no matter how small it seems. So yes while it is frustrating to have to police myself to follow the rules, the flipside is not being able to have a permit.

During my time managing gun stores, I carried a full-size Browning Hi Power 9mm pistol openly and a very tiny Walther TPH 22 in my back pocket---the P-35 was later replaced by a DA/SA full-size HK USP 9mm pistol---understand, there were also several hidden pistols placed within reach around the gun stores if needed, plus a Remington 870 12 gauge available too ... Because I have larger hands (to go with my larger 6' 1" body), I prefer a compact pistol (think HK P2000/USPc sized pistols) over the very popular Micro Pistols that are now flooding the market... I also have a couple of totally reliable Kahr CW9s hanging around the house as these were the smaller guns of choice before the newly promoted Micro pistols were invented... Since I'm now retired, and The State of California has done it's best (worst?) to make sure civilians like me cannot get a CCW license, I can't legally carry a pistol with me unlike when I visit friends in Texas where the very friendly LEO officers encouraged me to load-up my pistol and carry it in most places, with a few exceptions...

All this banter about “qualifying” with some nano-managed set of “rules by an IA”, in regards to the most hideous nano details about equipment. What’s next, only being able to carry some piece depending on what size polyps your proctologist found on the day of your shooting for score?….It’s getting beyond ridiculous.
All this BS serves to do is spotlight yet another reason why having permission (permitting) schemes is a horrible disenfranchisement to the citizens. Note for example, that once you are half way across the bridge over the Colorado river on I-10 East, none of this BS matters, or applies. Thank the Lord for that.

Some counties do absolutely restrict people from altering their CCW guns in any way whatsoever, whether it's adding a light, optic, or even changing the sights. As far as they're concerned, if it isn't completely factory spec, they aren't going to approve it and neither will the DA if you use it to defend yourself. Apparently they view any aftermarket modification as something that's intended to make the gun "more deadly" or unsafe, and is no longer regarded as a legitimate self-defense weapon, but something you just wanted to kill someone with, or maybe wouldn't have shot them with if it had been factory spec. It's utterly insane.

Yeah, this is all straight up unconstitutional infringement.

The reason I keep 6 weapons on my CCW ?
I have a several vehicles and we are allowed to have 2 weapons in our possession. So each vehicle has a 1911 or G34 in the glovebox and I have my G26 or shield on my person. It is hard for me to conceal a 1911 or G34 but as my Dad told me, "son, you never need a 1911 until you need one badly"

I'm lucky, live in NV and don't have all the same BS requirements. I have a ton of different carry choices for what ever is needed at the time and what I am wearing.

beware the man who owns only 1 gun and knows how to use it.
As Bruce Lee said, I don't fear the man who knows 10,000 kicks, I fear the man who knows 1 kick and has practiced it 10,000 times.

I'm jealous your IA allows 6 (mine allows max 3), but even with my 3 listed, I only carry 1 primarily, and very seldomly carry my 2nd listed...

I get three for LAPD & I put three. I went down a rabbit hole and bought a bunch of off rosters CCW options to pick my list. They all just sit in the safe now.

I did try and add some size difference on mine & kept some modular options just in case.

Shield Plus
XMacro
Echelon
Are you wanting to sell any of ones that sit in the safe? What do you currently have in safe?
