So I’m in the mid to top-mid echelon of a “beginner” when it comes to firearms/shooting. I own a couple 9mm handguns and was recently presented with an opportunity to purchase a second-hand M&P 15-22, which led to some thought exercises that I’d like guidance on from people with more experience.
So basically a 22LR rifle would be used exclusively for range time/“fun”; I don’t hunt and I wouldn’t use it for self defense. This led me to wonder if instead of a 22LR rifle if I should just buy a .177 or .22 pellet air rifle (or something similar), which would skip over all the DROS and 10-day waiting period drama, plus I could shoot it in my back yard instead of waiting to go to the range.
Would love to know what others think, and any guidance on what to purchase, what to watch for, etc.
Thanks in advance
