Been using the old Harbor Freight Apache 3800 hard case.
Problem was interior height did not allow for a red dot.
Started installing red dot on all my handguns.
Was able to find a exact same size only taller.
HQ Issue...interior as I measure 14 7/8" x 10 1/2" x 7"
$70 everyday $60 sale

Not sure if just mine but the Pick N Pluck foam had very small squares.
Made the side very thin and did rip a few times.
Picked up some hard foam and cut to fit, soft foam still on bottom.
2" hard foam, 2" soft Pick N Pluck foam, 1 1/8' soft solid foam bottom came with case.

Original foam, made template for hard foam.
Hardest part is cutting vertical and allowing for stand off about 1" cut for front of frame so it sits level.

My Apache 3800 foam held up good.
$40 everyday $30 sale
Having everything stand tall in case made it easy to remove/install handguns......
The larger case still has same height problem for red dot.

Interior 14 7/8" x 10 1/2" x 6 1/4"

Cool topic!

Have several bag options, but my go-to is a Flambeau range backpack. Holds everything I need for the range, except rifles/shotguns and chronographs. (Still have a Caldwell chrono, but got a deal on an older gen Labradar. Not sporting a Garmin yet.) Even holds extra ears for guests that may come with me, tools, and duct tape. Never know when you’ll need duct tape. 😁 😂

Haven’t seen it available in a while, so I suspect it has been discontinued. Bummer.
