Hammer Fired CCW?

See reply above… If you have other 2011s, I’m not sure how the 24c wouldn’t win with mag compatibility. Maybe it’s because all I shoot is 2011s now. Every other pistol is mediocre to me.

I do have or owned dozens of 2011s. I carry an Atlas or a Staccato HD C4X. I owned a 2023 and 2024 cs and C. They're nice because they're a bit thinner, but the continual inclusion of a grip safety and the mag compatibility issues + lack of support moving forward is really the nail in the coffin for them.

Also, perhaps you're confused? The C and CS don't have cross compatibility with standard 2011 mags and for carry 2011s applicable freedom week mags are one of the more important aspects.

The C4X is probably one of the best carry 2011s on the market right now, not just in the CA market. Glock mag compatibility for freedom week mags while maintaining freedom week mag useage and a size and weight similar to a glock 19 while being extremely shootable (much better than a C/CS) makes it a pretty solid option.
 
Two of my three on my CCW (if I were to admit that I had such a thing) are hammer and the other is a striker fired P7M8. The P2000SK is rather tiny, but when I want more I carry my USPc 45.

Don't forget there are internal Hammer fired CCW guns such as the sig 320 and 365, Taurus gx4, and Smith & Wesson m&p m 2.0 they use an internally housed hammer. Those are just a few examples of 9 mm internal hammer firearms. If you're going to a different caliber such as 380 of course there's the LCP and others. Just something to think about

I’m confused, the 365 isn’t internal hammer fired… it’s striker fired. I thought the same was true of the M&P and the 320 but don’t have those. Not like WC’s new Bulwark which has an internal hammer. Am I losing my mind? The 365 cocks back and releases a firing pin assembly that is spring tensioned, I don’t see a hammer anywhere…

My bad. The sig is a striker fired firearm. I was thinking of something else. But there are many guns that have an internal Hammer that you cannot see. When you talk to slide it obviously cocks the hammer but it's not visible to the naked eye or exposed like on a CZ 75 or others

76 posts and no one has mentioend what I believe to be the ultimate DA/SA hammer fired carry gun. S&W Chief's Special. No, not the revolver, the CS9: https://www.genitron.com/Handgun/Smith-Wesson/Pistol/CS9-(Chiefs-Special)/9-mm/Variant-2.

Arguably the smallest DA/SA ever made. Awesome trigger. I have one on my permit, but unfortunately, can't bear to carry it. It is in mint condition and was unfired when I bought it. It is coming off my permit on next renewal and going back to safe queen / range toy status.

Next up, Sig p239. Lots of mentions of the p229 but fewer of it's single stack cousin. I have the SAS version and it's a dream to shoot and to carry. I used to have five, but actually only have a couple left in .40 and .357 Sig. Sold the 9mm as I honestly can't feel the difference between 9mm and .40 in this gun. If they shoot the same, I'd rather have more power.

Wow cool website, thanks. These days single stack is considered really low capacity.
 
Yeah, I get it. If DA/SA doesn't matter to you, there are plenty of light striker fired guns. admittedly, thery are getting better all the time an I have a Hellcat on my CCW.

Everything else being equal, more rounds are better. But as lomg as the 10 round limit stands in CA, I'm Ok with trading 7 rounds out of a gun that is that easy to shoot and control and I enjoy shooting at the range vs. 10 out of anything that isn't. Real life gunfights typically involve 2-3 shots and 7 is more tha adequate.

The secret service and air marshals carried p239's for years. There was probably a reason for that.
