Meh. That’s not much of a guide. If anyone wants to get started in USPSA, I would recommend:
1) Going to YouTube and typing “Getting started in USPSA” into the search bar. There’s a ton of very helpful information there.
2) Going to any local match and checking it out. Ask questions. People are always happy to help.
3) Reading through the rules at https://uspsa.org/documents/rules/current/2026/USPSA-Competition-Rules-2026.pdf
4) Creating an account on Practiscore and finding out what’s going on in their local area regarding matches, new to competitive shooting classes, etc. Go to https://practiscore.com/.

That’s enough to keep you busy for awhile. Write down questions and Google them, ask them on internet forums like this, or ask people in person at a local match. It may seem intimidating at first, but again, people are always happy to help. Once you start, you’ll be hooked. I’ve never smoked crack, but from what I hear, your first stage is like your first hit. There’s no turning back.

You can do the same thing if you’re interested in Steel Challenge, IDPA, etc. Tons of information is available on the internet for all of types of action shooting.
