Glock 26L

I have, I got a Hooper Gun Works slide. It works great but I don't use it much because I don't shoot my Glock very much anymore. I'd sell it fairly cheap if you are interested

I know slides were a niche product, and many companies have stopped producing them. They seemed popular around 2018. I've seen them on YouTube, including videos of people cutting off Glock 19 frames. I also noticed Hooper slides on eBay, and recently found a used one pretty cheap, which is why I was asking about personal experiences. I have some credit on eBay, but I’ve been hesitant about the brand due to mixed reviews, mostly about tolerance issues but some reports of burrs, etc. It seems they work fine after a break-in period, possibly due to the Cerakote application, but I’ve also read about Hooper’s lack of customer service response. Additionally, I’m questioning the practicality of getting one since I wouldn’t carry it.

The Hooper slide I got works fine, one thing about ebay is that you can return things within a week or so if it's not up to expectations. The seller doesn't even have to respond, if you escalate to a case they will just give you a mailing label automatically. So if you order it from there just go fire it within a few days and see if it's going to have issues. The only issue with mine is that the cerakote got a gouge in it, but that could have been my fault so it's hard to say it has a bad cerakote. Oh, and also if you are putting an optic on, the screw that is on the extractor side can stop the extractor plunger from moving if it's too long. That was the only time it hasn't fired.
 
You can pick up any g19 slide, g19 barrel, G19 recoil spring, (a complete slide) and put it on your g26. Might want to also get a dust cover from loan wolf or someone to cover up the recoil spring
 
Source an OEM Glock slide if you can.

I've toyed around with enough aftermarket slides years ago to learn that while they look nice, they don't always play nice with an OEM Glock lower. It gets more confusing when you use aftermarket parts kits and every other round is a FTE/FTF...
 
Funny enough, before I got the Hooper slide I had a gen 5 glock 19 MOS slide I put on my 26 and I had all kinds of issues, namely the gen 5 glock barrels don't like a lot of ammo if it's a tiny bit too long but it also had FTFs. I've honestly never had an aftermarket glock slide that didn't work. Glock OEM isn't magic it still has issues and the MOS system sucks compared to a direct milled RMR on an aftermarket.
 
It’s funny folks always want to go the other way. Like I wish Glock would make a 19 frame with a 26 slide on it. Perfect gun.
 
No good reason to make that, that's just a Glock 26 with a mag extension which is how everyone runs them. I actually prefer the 26 because the shape has less of a rear bump and you get less of the horrid Glock grip angle. I got rid of my 19s

The Glock Store (on their IG) actually teased an early prototype G26x - it's exactly as your described, G19 frame with a G26 slide length on it. Not sure if it's even close to being official, but it's interesting as hell..

I'm pretty sure the G19 slide has to be a Gen 4 or Gen 5 if paired with a G26 Gen 3 frame.
 
yeah you can use either one, one of the few with inter-generational functionality. You can even use a gen 3 recoil spring on the gen 5 19 with the little adapter plate thingy that strike industries makes. Funny though, that's exactly how I have my 26 set up, a beavertail and Glock Performance trigger
 
I saw the Strike Industries G-SAP adapter plate that fills the gap when using a Gen 3 slide on a Gen 4/5 Glock frame. Lone Wolf used to make a stainless adapter for Gen 3-to-Gen 3; However, I found a steel Cerakote plate for ~$69 + tax and a cheap 3D-printed one for ~$20 + tax + shipping, but it looked low-quality. My (.22 LR) slide has a stainless adapter, took me forever to even notice it.

I guess if I was to want to carry a 26L I would just buy a Glock gen 3 "spare slide" an OEM barrel and SS dust cover—about the cost of a used G19. Except I like direct mount RMR too. But I guess the whole point of a sub-compact long slide is for carry, low print, longer sight radius and slightly more velocity.

I got curious after finding a G27L last year while looking for a G22 optic slide, but that company stopped making them. Then I saw Hooper Gun Works’ 26L and also learned about cutting a G19 grip to G26 length. I own a G27 and considered a G26 slide with an optic cut and front serrations, but imo it’s too short, so I’m leaning toward a G19.

How does this run?
It looks like a gen 5 slide on a gen 3 frame with a slide adapter/dust cover.
No issues with gen 3 locking block? Like binding, frame wear, or cycling issues, due to the Gen 5 slide’s wider front rails.
I assumed the gen 5 RSA was incompatible with the G26 Gen 3 frame and gen 3 RSA channel.
The gen 5 slide to gen 3 frame looks doable, but maybe more reliable and less frame wear with a gen 5 block and 26 gen 5 RSA?

It runs like it should.
It is a Gen 5 slide on Gen 3 frame with a dust cover that takes the G26 RSA. I've never tried it with the Gen 5 19 RSA.
