Gen 3 Glocks Discontinued???

Hopefully not, but probably. My EDC is a 29SF. Turner's is the only one that seems to have any inventory left. If anyone has a favorite model/s now's the time to buy spares. I've got three G19's, soon to have two G29SF's. I've got a G20C and plan to buy another G20 of some kind. Though I'm not a huge fan of .40, I'm contemplating a 23 as it seems that .40 ammo hangs around whenever there's an ammo crunch and 9mm becomes unobtanium. Not to mention that with a mere barrel swap, the 23 can become a 32.

A subcompact 10mm the size of a G19 is quite the statement. You are a man among men.

lol. Thanks for the compliment, but it's really not the insanely unwieldy beast people think it is. Length and height wise it's roughly the same size as a G19. Width wise it's identical to the USP 9mm compact, my former EDC. I carry it with 155 gr Hornady Custom. 155 grain projectiles have almost identical sectional density to 125 grain .357 projectiles. Based on specs, this load comes close to mimicking the fabled 125 grain .357 magnum load that gained the reputation back in the day as the "ultimate" man stopper.

I'm a big fan of .357, but prefer semi-autos for carry. For me, that's where 10mm shines. .357 magnum performance in a semi-auto package. I personally wouldn't carry 10mm with anything heavier than 165 grain. Maybe a 175 grain silvertip, but even that I feel is pushing it for for self-defense purposes against humans.

Seriously though, even with my full house hand loads, I feel it kicks less than full house loads out of my 686 SSR.

I’m torn between getting another Glock 19 with a Blue Label Coupon or a BCM upper for my AR. It’s either /or.

neither LOL. Both medicore. BCM barrels leave a lot to be desired, the BCG is good but the upper is overpriced. Criterion or Geissele for barrels, you can find them on sale regularly. Receiver and hand guard doesn't matter for performance, just get what you like for aesthetics and feel, I'm highly partial to Cross Machine Tool handguards though.

I've got some Barnes VOR-TX 155 Grain XPB Solid Hollow Point Lead Free (copper), but haven't tried it yet.

I got it to carry while hunting.

I think I'll pick up some of the Hornady.

I think they are also manufacturing Gen 3 for military and law enforcement contracts, where they have to ship models that are compatible or identical. I have no idea how big that business is compared to the California civilian one.

Which again begs the question... if they went through that trouble before, would they throw away the CA market that easily now?

The US firearms market is by far the largest in the world, about half of the whole world. And California is roughly 10% of it, or a little less. For grins: The total number of firearms registered in Austria is about 1.5 million, and Austria is Glock's home country; California has probably about 10 million guns legally owned, and handgun sales alone in California are about 700K per year. Assuming roughly half the weapons in Austria are handguns (that's very optimistic, as most European countries have more hunters than target shooters), that means as may handguns are sold per year in California as there are total (not sold) in Austria. I'm going to bet that more Glocks are sold in California than in any other country in the world, excluding "the whole US". It's possible Texas has California beat (the gun market in Texas is usually roughly the same size as California: lower population, less disposable income, but more guns per capita.

But the Barrel Bill is a different story...

The current barrel bill only requires transfers of barrels to go through an FFL; it does not restrict what barrels and parts can be sold. As you said, that could be added in the future.

I think it's a great round. I like the XTP bullet a lot. It does very well in gel tests.

Yeah the restrictions are what I think we're all the most afraid of.
But also the fact that you won't be able to ship a lower to your door etc and then down the line they're also adding in eligibility checks later on too as part of the bill xP

Every handgun each year expires on the 1st the next year when it's renewed (iirc)
Seeing as they're not takin ordered for at least most of the models... sounds like that could be the case...
There'd only be some 6 months of availability between them being renewed past Jan 1st and the ban's effective date in July

The gen3 models I have listed in post 7 are not on Glock's discontinued list. Presumably, if 1127 doesn't pass, those models will continue being offered in CA.

Down range in Chico said folks are coming in buying 5 at a time. If you want one, do not wait. I think once word gets around they will dry up quick. Sac black rifle is buying hi cap guns and blocking mags to stock their shelves. Not every store will do that.
