Seems to me like more government officials want to start carrying. I wish they valued the lives of our children as much as they value their own lives. I would have been a lot happier if he had said, “I want predators out there to know that certain members of our school staff are armed and will use whatever force is necessary to protect our students.”

oh so maybe being armed is the right thing for all of us. Maybe the cops are there to clean up after the fact and take a report. maybe just maybe we should stop being 🐚s and let everyone that can own firearms carry them. Like the majority of states.

I don’t disagree and I’m not so delusional to think this means the average Joe can CCW in these areas any time soon, but look at this in the context of “sensitive places”. Do courtrooms and government buildings still qualify as safe spaces if non-law enforcement are allowed to carry?

They won't be carrying there. If you watch the statement from the (deputy?) DA, he says they will be facilitating this with safe storage at the office etc. This whole thing is in the context of one of their staff being attacked recently.

Having armed government lawyers is an accident waiting to happen long before they are in a situation that they need protect themselves from bad guys. Or, maybe just being armed is enough of a deterrent to achieved the desired effect. Pretty much the same as normal citizens desires with a reasonably easy to obtain CCW permit.

These people will have to go through the same process everyone does.

At every range, there's a CCW station to disarm. I'm sure they won't be allowed to walk in armed and will be accomodated by the state to have a safe area to store their weapon until they leave the premises.

I think people are taking it a bit out of context, more people who want to get a CCW and see how hard it is and expensive to get/maintain will start to feel the pinch and THAT's when sentiment starts to change. It already is changing but the pessimists will continue to be critical of any advancement because it's too small. The tide is turning, so it'll be good to support the changes welcome these people in and let them vent about their frustrations.

Then we can train them and they'll feel more empowered and see ownership is not a bad thing.

When you take your CCW permit class they will tell you outright to carry with one in the chamber, it's standard practice.
