Got my first turkey yesterday (first anything ever). Roughly 30 yards, 3rd shot connected with it's leg, complete luck! Watched it for 5 minutes or so, then while walking up something grabbed it and darted. Followed the feathers 20' or so in the weeds..a bobcat took it for a ride haha.

Next, looking forward to this year's deer and bear season (D3-D5), maybe some better luck than last year!

How did you like the turkey meat? I've been wanting to hunt turkey, but haven't connected with a private landowner.

Actually trying it right now (white meat portion) with some pasta. Dry/tough but could just be how I cooked it. I separated the white and dark meat so curious how the darker ground turkey will be!

With pheasant I use a pressure cooker, so the meat is tender, then add frozen vegetables, gravy, and make a meat pie. When we have plenty of hearts and livers, I cook them in olive oil and my wife and daughter join me eating them right out of the pan.

I've killed several wild turkeys. I think the meat is the best turkey I've ever had. I crock pot the thighs/drums and brine the breast, then smoke it slow. Unbelievably delicious

Wild turkey might be some of the best game meat. Do a schnitzel fried breast and the legs and tougher parts get tossed in the sous vide with some duck fat for a a long cook.
